The Bond

The day finally came. Two days after the bank incident, I walked down King Lycan’s mansion stairs as everyone looked at me. My white snow hair gave off who I was. “She’s f*****g beautiful,” I hear. I sigh and fix my dress, “if it isn’t Ava Lance. Finally I get to meet you,” holy s**t, King Lycan, I bowed to him and he chuckles, “he is sexy,” Vera says, “no, no. No bowing to me, your father was my great friend, you’re like family,” he pays my back and I smile, shut up, Vera. No, “you knew my father?” He nods, “your father was a great man, a great wolf. No, a great Alpha. He was the true definition of what it is to be an Alpha of a Royal pack,” I smile at his answer.

“I hope you enjoy yourself here,” Christopher and the others came afterward, “yes, Ava Lance is part of the Rez Pack,” Christopher said to whoever was there as he had his arm around Flora’s shoulder, “no, she didn’t come here to find a mate,” he adds and sighs, waving at the Alpha’s in that area as they left, murmuring to each other, “they were mind-linking him questions,” King Lycan says. “At least he knows,” I smile and king Lycan laughs. A fresh scent hits my nostrils. The smell of a rainforest after the rain. It was intoxicating to her. “Bingo,” King Lycan pats my back and walks away, smiling as the doors open. I walk to the table just to grab a cup of champagne and I see them. “The Winter Pack,” I hear. The largest pack in the land.

This well built, tall light tan guy came out afterward, fixing his tie. He sighed, walking down the stairs. His stubble and quiff cut hair made him so mouth watering to me. The scent was entrancing me, “is it coming from him… Ren?” I was confused. “Mate. Mate. Mate. I smell mate,” I try to back off and I see him stop and he sniffs the air a bit, it seems like I may be in trouble? I see him glance in my direction and sighs, walking away to join King Lycan, “I may have been wrong,” I whisper, “Ava, I smell our mate… he’s here, who is he?” I bite my lip, I don’t know Vera. You tell me, you’re my wolf counterpart, girl, the scent was making me gasp for air, whoever that Alpha was… was making sure I knew he was there, does whoever this is know that his mate is me? Is that why the scent is following me everywhere? I was lost in thought. “Ava, mate… mate,” Vera pleads, where? I don’t know where, Vera. I’m getting nervous, what if it’s him? Ren… I was panicking. “Think about it, Ava. The scent filled our head once he came in, if it is… who cares? I want to meet my mate!” She was prancing around, excitedly, damnit, Vera, I walk to the bathroom, the sweat coming out finally. I close the door and take a deep breath, washing my face with cold water. “Get it together, you humans get too shy, our pack is waiting for us! Their Luna,” Vera repeatedly says. Okay! Okay! She was honestly wracking my brain. I take one more deep breath and opens the door, the big blast of that scent hit my nose as I bump into someone and fall back. He catches me and our eyes lock. Those yellow beautiful eyes “you,” he says, “me? Me,” I pull away quickly and the Goddess was blessing me that moment because King Lycan showed up, “well well, if it isn’t what our elders say would happen,” Ren backed off and cleared his throat.

“What’s going on?” Raven came out with my glass of champagne. I take it and gulp it down, “I uh, need to go,” I walk passed them and a hand pulls me, “no,” it was him. He held my hand then let go, clearing his throat. All eyes were on us, “you’re my mate,” Ren says. Silence. s**t, I hear Vera giggle, “Sam seems so nice,” she giggles more, his wolf? She hums in agreement. “Mate,” I whisper back without thinking. I felt half the Alpha’s in the room sigh in disappointment, my palms started to sweat and I was feeling this small flame slowly grow, starting to engulf me.

Ren stood there, biting his lip as I watched him, “well, it seems I did my part,” King Lycan walks off, “what? What?” Ren and I both said in Unison. “Let’s be clear, Ren is the Alpha of the Winter Pack. He’s almost twenty-eight, he should have pups by now and Ava was taking her time. We all knew you two were mates, you guys spent years messing around,” he shrugs. I was shocked at his words, “so you orchestrated this?” Ren asks and he nods, “I told Christopher it was mandatory for her to come. She is turning twenty-four,” he nods. I blush and bite my lower lip, “tch,” I hear and see Christopher gritting his teeth as he glares at Ren. “Ava… I smell Rogues. You know our senses are much more stronger than theirs,” Vera says and I gasp, “hey, wait. Wait,” I look around, “Rogues. Rogues are here,” I say sniffing. “What? You can smell them?” Ren asks me. Everyone stays alert and King Lycan sniffs just as the doors opens, “King Lycan, a pack of Rogues have entered through the west gate,” suddenly the party was over.

“You’re not leaving my side,” Ren says and pulls me away with him, following the crowd. Dominance, I love it, I think as that electricity gets stronger as he interlocks our fingers together. Everything was happening so fast. I didn’t know what to say or even think.

“What do you guys want? You should know better than to invite yourselves to King Lycan’s party,” King Lycan’s beta says. The Alpha rogue looks at me then, “I came here to take back my mate. My beta’s sister,” he says. I fall silent, Vera glared at him and sniffs, “no,” Ren gets in front of me. “Sam?” He looks back, “your brother needs to show himself first,” he says. I walk forward, alert, “I want to see him… if it’s true. My brother died ten years ago,” I admit to him. Vera was helping me say words I couldn’t. “Very well,” just then. Vera’s heart palpitated fast and she sniffed, “M-Max?” We both say. A Snow White wolf comes out of the back of the pack, sniffing and stops next to his alpha, “hello, sister,” he says. I couldn’t stop myself from moving Vera forward. She sniffed more and Ren growled, Sam growled, getting in front of me, “you’re a rogue…” he sniffs, “not if I’m with a pack, damned Alpha,” Max says. “Tch,” I frown, “what do you want?” Vera asks, “we’re family, Vera, Ava. Don’t you want to come back to family? We can get the territory back that belong to our father, before his lousy uncle murdered them,” my heart pummeled so fast. Vera started whimpering, “wait, we can explain,” Sam was telling Vera, “it’s not something that we took lightly, Ava. I didn’t take it lightly what he did, that’s why I’m Alpha now,” Max chuckles and walks forward to us, “I…I,” I was speechless. “Please, don’t talk to me, Sam,” Vera pulled a wall around us. I walked back from Max, “Ava, we can regain our pack again, not all White, but.. come on,” Max said to me.

“Back off,” Ren growled. Max growled back, “beta Max, this Alpha isn’t worth your growls… if Ava doesn’t want to come now peacefully, we’ll take her somehow, King Scum Lycan is present too… we need to grow and train,” his Alpha said. Ren growled, “no, you came here to fight. Didn’t you, scared Alpha? The tail between your legs?” Sam chuckled and he growled coming forward, “your words won’t make me lose control, I’m above you. Above your pack of weaklings,” Sam snarled, trying to go to forward, but Ren was holding him back, “Ava, you can stop him. Before he loses control, Ren is about to blackout at how angry he is,” I bite my lip and nods. I go forward, Vera.. I try to get her to come out, “I heard you..” Vera sighs, sniffling. “Sam, can you listen to me for a second? I will let you explain everything, just please let’s end this now, let them run away like rogues, don’t…don’t change this situation, we found out we’re mates,” Vera tells him and she licks him softly, making him shake his head and lose the trance of anger he had. He took a deep breath, calming himself, “Stay,” he whispers. I can hear Ren say the same thing in unison,” We nodded, “might as well,” we say. “Tch, Ava. You grew up hardheaded, watch him turn his back on you. You know exactly where you will find me,” Max and his wolf growled at us and they left. The rogues walked out and we all sighed, “nobody wanted to fight,” King Lycan looks around, “now, we can talk,” Sam looks at me, I can see Ren looking at me too. “The party is over. Everyone may go home except for the Rez pack and the Winter pack, it’s time we get closure,” King Lycan nods and we follow him back.
