Midnight Pack

I sat on the chair, my legs dangling over the arm chair as I read a book, sitting next to Max’s bed, where he was resting with a blood drip. I whistle lightly and hear stirring. I sit up and get up, walking to where Max slowly opens his eyes, “Ava?” He had dirty blonde with white stripes hair, soft green eyes and his features were that of Ren basically, a man. “Ren! Matthew! Someone! Max is awake!” I link through the pack, The door opens and Ren comes in with King Lycan and Matthew quickly into the room.

Raven joins a bit after, going to him and checks his pulse, “he’s okay,” she nods, “hi,” I smile, fighting back the tears. He sits up and looks at me, “you’re my sister,” he says. I nod and hug him. I hugged him so hard he wraps his arms around me and I cry quietly into him, “I’m sorry! Max, I’m sorry! I thought you died with mom and dad! They never told me you were alive, nobody did! I hurt for you! I missed you!” I cry uncontrollably now and he chuckles,”I know. I know,” I felt his tears as well. I squeeze him, smiling and wipes my eyes, “I’m sorry, about everything I told you. I-I was just blinded by my own f*****g rage, I didn’t expect it to hurt when I even told you those words,” he whispers. I shake my head, “it’s okay. You were lost and confused and you only went to your safe place,” I nod at him, “he was my safe place, but the power and greed he has right now over looked our brother-bond,” he balls up his fist. “I think it’s time you start from the beginning,” King Lycan says. The room goes quiet, I push the chair next to Max’s bed more, push Ren down and sit on his lap, pulling one of the extra blankets over me and he wraps his arms around me from the back, listening as I get comfortable. The others do the same, they sit down to hear.

“I remember when Alpha Lukas came with his pack, I remember seeing him and my dad argue over who will get to be Ava’s mate, he then mentioned Alpha Lukas’ nephew, Ren Knight,” he starts, “that night Alpha Lukas left or it looked like he did and my father loosened up on the security, it was the worse choice because the night came and the only thing I saw was Alpha Lukas with my father’s neck in his mouth as he snapped he snapped it, I noticed a little boy, a bit older than Ava look at the scene in horror,” Ren’s body stiffened and I feel his forehead on my back. He squeezes me, I rub his hand, reassuring him I was there and he takes a deep breath, relaxing.

“I didn’t see Ava anywhere and the last thing I heard was my mom screaming at me to run and Find Ava, so I did. I ran and ran as fast as my damned tiny legs could run and heard a howl. That howl I didn’t know what it meant until years later. That howl was the howl of dominance, of letting others around him know that he took out one of the most powerful packs before the other packs started showing up. All treaty’s were broke,” he says. King Lycan nods, “I remember that. Everyone in every pack was going crazy, scared, angry that one of the most kindest packs could get wiped out like nothing,” he sighs, “Yeah, soon, I was losing my hope to live,” he continues and I grip Ren’s hand, a tear falls from my eyes and it fell on Ren’s hand who pulls me back and I nuzzles into him, looking at Max, explain. He sounded hurt and like it was torture to relive what he endured.

“I got accepted into this new pack then, Jade Sun Pack. They accepted me and not as a rogue, but as someone who endured so much. It was worthless to have gone through, because in that pack it was worse. I was a servant, they tortured me whenever another pack member did something wrong and blamed it on me,” he tears up. I go to him, getting off Ren’s lap and hugs him, “then Valex found me. He said he saw what my family went through and allowed me to stay with him. Surely, a few months later after I healed, he started training me. We trained for hours and days so I could be strong and kill off that f*****g damned Alpha Lukas, Valex wanted to join because he never liked Alpha Lukas from the start, he made me his Beta, we started accepting rogues that were kicked out of their packs or just left and we started to become a pack ourselves. The Golden Night Pack, we got it from the way the stars always guided us to food, even though it was scraps of another pack’s hunt. We survived. Word got around that, Ren Knight killed Alpha Lukas and that angered us both because we wanted to do it, Valex warned to eliminate Ren because he took the place that he wanted… Alpha,” Max looks at Ren and Ren looks away as Anger filled his eyes, “after, he found out what me and Ava were truthfully and the reason as to why our father’s pack was respected among all of the community,he wanted Ava as her mate in order to gain reign of the whole community and once we surpassed his numbers in pack members, it’s like something horrible clicked, he’s been acting just like Alpha Lukas did, he started killing the packs without caring, he brings fear into the entire pack and I couldn’t handle it anymore, I told him I had to leave the pack as to understanding some things I was questioning and he ended up sending his warriors after me, he rejected me from his pack and that’s how I ended up here. He’s been killing the Canadian pack Alpha’s slowly, one by win and ruling them. There’s exactly six packs left untouched by him in Canada,” Vera?” I ask after feeling a cold shiver and the breeze of the moon hit my chest, “the moon Goddess is telling us to go to Alpha Kylo’s territory in Canada, we will get more answers there. She said to hurry,” I get up, “King Lycan,” I say and he looks at me, “yes?”

“Can you contact Alpha Kylo?” I ask and Ren gets up, “how do you know him?” Ren asks, “yes, I can why?” I look at them, “the Moon Goddess has sent her a mission,” Jaw mind-links all of us. “We will be getting more answers from him,” I say, “the moon goddess already contacted him, Alpha Kylo has granted you guys permission to enter his territory,” Jaw admits and cuts the link off, “looks like, we’re going traveling,” I smile and walk out.

The pack house was getting ready, “I just got off the phone with Alpha Kylo and he will be expecting us. He is preparing for our arrival,” Ren tells us. I nod and smiles. “Matthew and Issac, get six of our best warriors who will be joining us, we will leave King Lycan’s Gamma here just in case an invasion,” Ren puts his suit case down and I follow. Max comes out and I go to him, “ready?” I ask, “I-I don’t think I should go, Alpha Kylo saw me when Valex attacked him,” he nods, “did you attack him?” He shakes his head, “I was scared that Valex was reaching the breaking point of going insane and crazy,” he chuckles. “Then you are going and I will talk to him, myself,” I put a suit case down with Matthew’s brothers clothes for him, “hey,” Ren puts an arm over Max’s shoulder, “listen, all the s**t you caused, is still here,” he taps his mind, “but you’re my mates brother and if she trusts you, then I’ll let it go,” Ren pulls away and I sigh, “ignore him, he’s like that. I know you’re a good person, Max,” I tell him.

“Ren! Before you go…” Amanda barges in the doors and stops, dropping her folder with papers. Max freezes and I feel a bolt of electricity as their eyes lock, “looks like, our pack will be getting bigger,” I tell Ren who rolls his eyes and chuckles.

Max goes to Amanda and she stares at him, “mate,” he whispers, “mate,” she holds his hand.

Max stayed back with Amanda and they started talking and getting to know each other as I enter the car after Ren. He gets in, “to the Midnight Pack territory,” Ren tells the driver. I nuzzle against him as we drive through the cold road, the snow covering both of the sides of the forests, “the haze is in a week,” I tell him, “I know we’ll be back before then. I prepared a place for us,” he smiles, “really?” I perk up, “yeah and we can even decorate it for Christmas,” he smirks. I clap and nod, “yes, yes!” I kiss his lips and nuzzles against him again as he holds me.

We finally made it. After six uncomfortable hours, we enter Alpha Kylo’s pack land. His mansion was huge, three cars parked outside, two cars inside the garage. “Whoa,” I say and Ren chuckles, “this looks like our old pack house,” he says, “old?” He nods, “after I killed my uncle, I moved our pack to a new place, because that place has horrible memories for all of us,” he whispers. I smile and cup his face, “now it will be good memories,” I nod and he hugs me.

“Alpha Ren and his mate, Ava Lance along with King Lycan, come in!” The door opens and out comes a tall guy with tan skin and black hair brushed back. “Please, join us,” a petite girl my height, slim and long jet black hair comes next to him, “this is my mate and Luna of my pack, Vanessa Moore,” he smiles and she shakes my hand, “pleasure to meet you, Luna Ava,” she smiles, “pleasure to meet you too,” I smile. Ren and Kylo hand shake too, then King Lycan does.

“Yes, this new pack came out of no where, their scent was new. They wanted to Ambush us but my brothers pack was here for a ceremony to welcome my mate as the Luna so we outnumbered them by a few ten,” Alpha Kylo explains as we take a drink of the tea, Vanessa made for us. “Valex?” Ren asks and he nods, “that fucker almost killed Vanessa, I never wanted to rip someone’s head off as much as I did with him,” he grips the cup and Vanessa holds his hand. “Trust me, I know that feeling all too well,” Ren chuckles and Alpha Kylo also chuckles.

“They want to kill off all Alpha’s so he can become the king of all of the werewolf community,” I say. “that’s impossible, even if he did,” he laughs and it echoed, “why?” Raven asks. “your Luna already had that position,” Alpha Kylo smiles. “My apologies by the way, we never did the proper greeting,” they both get up and bow to me. I blush, “no need, no need. In my mind we all are equals,” I smile and Vanessa giggles, “wow, just like me,” she nods, “mm, there can only be one ruler of something like that. The Moon Goddess doesn’t allow two to rule the werewolf community because it’s like making a bigger pack in a way and with more trouble,” Vanessa tells me, “how do you know this?” I ask, “I’m part Fae. Fairy,” she smiles, uncovering her wings which were invisible a moment ago. “Wow,” I got excited as I saw the glitter of the transparent white wings, “he will never succeed and even if he doesn’t…he still has murdered many innocent Alpha’s along the way to his fake throne. Trust me when I say this, he will pay,” Alpha Kylo says. Ren’s eyes glaze and so do his. They both nod and I was confused. Vanessa also looked confused.

After a while we left the guys behind to continue talking about the current situation, while Vanessa took me and Raven, showing us around.

“How did you two meet?” Vanessa asks me, “us? Ren and I? King Lycan’s Mate Party he threw, we just found each other. He’s been nice to me ever since and we have had a few arguments here and there,” she giggles and nods, “same here, but Kylo wasn’t as nice to me at first, he didn’t like me because my mom was a Fairy and my dad a Beta wolf or because I was f*****g the Fae prince. I never found out,” she shrugs, “he did a lot to hurt me, but something ended up happening to me, which really sent him over the edge and he poured all his emotions out to me, that he was sorry and that cheesy stuff. We’ve been okay after he realized he really did love me, with also a few arguments here and there but he’s been nice to me ever since. He even made the she-wolves he f****d rogues right after expressing himself to me,” Ren hasn’t done that… has he? No, because Lily was still able to come into the pack house, “I wish Ren was like that,” I giggle, “mm, it took Kylo time to realize how he was still hurting me, even though he showed me he cared. When he realized that’s what hurt, he kicked all three of them out.”

“Three?” Raven asks, “yeah. Each haze season, he would be f*****g other she-wolves or when we weren’t on the best of terms,” she sighs, “is he all for you now?” Raven asks for me, “yeah. He doesn’t let me out his sight, at all,” we laugh.
