One day left until the haze season starts. Ren and I were packing our things to get to the cabin. Ren walks outside to meet with Matthew and Raven who were going to their own place. Max came out, he looked sad. I frown. “You okay?” I ask him and he nods, “I think I should go,” he says, “what? No, why?” My heart was panicking, “nobody wants me here. They all ignore me or throw glares at me, I don’t even have the confidence to see Amanda anymore,” that really hurt my heart.
“Max… please, talk to her? She’s hurt. She needs you, you two are mates, your first bonding experience. Ignore the pack and focus on her then you can focus on that,” I tell him. Amanda comes down and stops, slowly lookin away from Max’s gaze, I could feel his heart picking up, “she’s so beautiful,” he whispers. He walks over to her, “Amanda,” he stops her, “do you want to talk now?” She asks and he nods. She takes him to the guest room where she was staying at. Ren comes in, “what’s wrong? I felt your pain,” he whispers. I look up at him, “if the pack hurts my brother, Ren. I’m leaving for good,” I nod at him and walks away. I hear him growl quietly and glance to see his eyes glaze, “he’s telling the pack,” Vera giggles. I smile, I’m not really leaving, but it’s a good upper hit, I think and sits in the car waiting for him.
He gets in and I lean over to peck his lips, “that’s a good Alpha,” I tease and he chuckles, shaking his head, “I swear. You really know what to do to get to me, short stuff,” I pout at his nickname, “you and this short stuff,” I sit back, buckling up, “that’s a cute nickname for you, no? Short stuff? You are short, you almost fell from a chair putting lights on,” he drives off, laughing and I bite my lip, looking at him, “ha, ha. Next time you got to tell me when it rains, Tall umbrella,” I frown and he chuckles, “it’s cute you try,” he ruffles my hair.
It was a four hour drive to the place. He packs the car in an empty dirt parking spot and takes out suitcases, walking next to me, “just up these stairs,” we climb up brick stairs which were eaten up by nature. We enter a big field with a brick path leading to the cabin. The field was a meadow and the cabin was in the middle, on the side was a lake, “wow,” I look around, “nice huh?” He chuckles. I nod and smiles, “this is perfect,” he wraps his arms around me from the back, “it used to be my mom’s,” he chuckles and I frown, “are you sure you want to be her?” I ask him. He nods, “I’m positive,” he nips my ear and I yelp. He chuckles, taking our things in as I sit on the field and lay back, soaking up the sun.
“Wow, I know I’m going to enjoy this,” I giggle, “Ava?” It was Vanessa, “Vanessa, what’s wrong?” I mind link her, “I’m so nervous! He agreed to take me somewhere like what you described and we’re leaving, but I’m so nervous,” I bite my lip and look at Ren, turn the lights on, pulling our bags inside, “I’m nervous too. I don’t know how bad my heat is going to be, I don’t want it to be like.. he gets annoyed or it’s too much, it hurts though,” I pull a flower from the ground, ripping the petals as I sigh, “same, I feel like I won’t be good for him to get is needs satisfied,” she was describing me. “If only…” I yelp and jump as Ren sits behind me and laughs, “you were that focused on what? You didn’t notice me,” he laughs and pulls me between his legs, “I was just looking at the scenery,” I nod, “you know, I was able to figure out, you sometimes can read my mind now when I’m not mind-linking you, so…” I look at him, “h-how did you know?” I ask, “I was mind-linking Matthew the day before Max came and I felt your tiny and small bolt enter the mind-link,” he nods, “I thought it was just something because we’re mates,” he nuzzles my neck and inhales my scent, “oh, sorry,” I blush, “care to tell me what you were telling Vanessa?” He asks and I pull away. “I guess I was right,” he lifts a leg up and his elbow leans on it as he throws pebbles into the lake and they bounce off, “uh… Ren, sometimes we girls need to really keep things to ourselves, not everything is for our mates to hear,” I argue and pout. He chuckles and nods, “I see…” he pulls me back into his arms and I place my arms on his shoulders, “So I’m guessing, Alpha Kylo was right,” he smiles, “about what?”
“You and Vanessa being good friends, you guys already told each other s**t that we don’t know. He said Vanessa tells him everything, but whatever you two talked about. She hasn’t blurted a word out, only that one piece of information she said about, “haze season,” I blush bright red and look down, pulling away.
“Well, it’s good. It shows that pup Alpha’s sometimes need to not be nosey,” I get up. “Repeat that?” He asks again, getting up and following me, “pup Alpha’s need to not be so nosey,” I squeal as he picks me up over his shoulders, “I thought so,” he chuckles and closes the door, locking it. I struggle, giggling, “Ren! My head is going to be filled with blood, put me down,” I joke and he laughs, sitting me on the bed after running up the stairs quickly.
“Want me to show you what a pup Alpha is capable of?” He kisses my lips hovering over me as I cup his face, biting his lip, “you already showed me plenty of times, sir Alpha,” I giggle and he chuckles, looking down. “What do you want to eat?” He asks me then, caressing my cheek, “hmm, I’ll eat whatever you make me,” I nod at him. He got up and walked down stairs, which gave me time to shower and get dressed again.
I notice family pictures around, some medals of high-school, “you went to school with humans?” I ask, walking down the steps and he chuckles, nodding, “yeah, it was part of my father’s plan to put me on the right track so when I got Alpha position, I wouldn’t let the stress eat at me. School is basically like a pack,” he nods. “I see, without the hormonal werewolves running around?” I ask and he looks at me, laughing softly, “Definitely not,” he nods.
It was already four in the afternoon and we were watching a movie, I gasp and get up, walking to mirror at the view, “it’s snowing up here, finally,” he chuckles, opening the door and we walk out.
“Ava! Rogues! Ava!” Vera says in my head. Ren’s eyes glaze over the, “Ava! Get in the house!” I listen and run quickly, closing the door. I look at Ren already shifted. He growls loudly, the floor shakes seconds after. He was far beyond using his Alpha tone. He was far beyond angry now. Four rogues come out, growling at Ren, “Ren! It’s four rogues against you! You won’t make it!” I cry and he chuckles, “baby, you’re definitely underestimating me,” Ren glances back and his eyes turn a soft yellow, nodding as they all charge at him. He goes for one of them, I hearing snarling and the growling. I hear the moving of the bones cracking, veins popping. I didn’t know if it was Ren or the rogues.
Ren has one rogue by his neck and I cheer, clapping as he shakes his head like what a killer whale does to a seal for food. Ren’s eyes turned red, Sam, Sam tore into the wolf’s body, growling, “the black Knight,” the rogues pull away, “Tch, take the girl,” they look at me and run towards me. I gasp, falling back into the floor. I was hoping the door would make it. I then hear growling and look at Sam tearing into another rogue’s flesh and a grey with black haired wolf joined, Issac, tearing the other rogues face apart. One last rogue, he was glaring at us.
I open the door, “let me handle this,” the anger filed my eyes. The sight of Max washed over, “we heard you accepted the traitor Max into your pack, Ren. Is that what the big bad wolf does now? Go soft on someone who tried to hurt his mate?” I was about to cut him off, “Max has not given any threat that he wants to harm, Ava. That situation at the beginning as a miscommunication. Maximillion Lance is mated to my sister, which automatically makes him part of my pack and so what I do with my pack or who I accept into my pack shouldn’t concern a pack of mutts who don’t know how to be civilized.”
The rogue growled and glared at me, “Let’s place a little game,” Ren chuckles. Sam digs his claws onto the partially white ground. The Rogue’s ears perk up and looks at Sam after he chuckles the words out, “what?” The Rogue asks, “We’ll give you a minute head start to go back where you came from, that is if you can run away from me,” I could instantly tell, Ren and Sam were both having fun playing games with the rogue. Issac’s eyes glaze over, “Issac will be hiding just in case you make it,” Issac snarled at the rogue and chuckles, walking back into the trees, blending in with the lights. “Tch,” The rogue runs off quickly, sending Sam to run past me. “Stay inside, I already have patrol in this area until I come back,” Ren links me. “Please be safe!” I was scared for him.
I look at the clock, it was an hour after the whole situation and Ren wasn’t back. I was sitting on the couch with a hot cocoa mug, putting marshmallows inside. A movie was playing but I was curious and scared about Ren being gone for so long. “Ren? You okay? I’m worried.” Silence.
Another hour passed, “Ren… I’m getting scared,” I finally felt it. There was a wall blocking my mind-link. I dropped the mug and look around, running upstairs. I close the door and hear banging on the door just after the door closes.
I hold my ears, panicking. The smell of rogues filled my nose and it was getting stronger. My heart was palpitating to a point where it broke the silence to me. I was more frightened than ever and that even made my wolf whimper. Vera! Do something! I say, “I-I… You’re scared and it’s affecting me! I can’t!” We hear growling and snarles, multiple of them. Silence. Then the door kicks open and I scream jumping, “no! Please leave me alone!” I close my eyes, crying, “Ava! Ava, it’s me,” I look up and see Ren. I jump up on him and nuzzles his neck, crying uncontrollably, “it’s okay. f**k, I’m sorry. I couldn’t find you,” he holds me and drops to his knees, “Please.. don’t leave me, please,” I whisper. He looks at me and I nuzzle his chest, shaking. “You’ve never been this scared,” he whispers.
Seeing or rather hearing nothing from Ren, made me think the worse and it weakened me, he lays me on the bed and pulls me towards him as I sniffle, still frightened. He lifts my head up, “I should have never left you. My f*****g instinct kicked in and adrenaline washed over Sam the instant the rogue decided to run,” he sighs, pressing his forehead on mines. “What did you mean you couldn’t find me?” I was confused. He pulls away, “I don’t know what got over me. After we reached the lake that is between the borders, Sam lunged at the rogue. After, we heard some laughing and I wasn’t in control of Sam anymore…” his voice trailed off as he looked worried, “Sam wasn’t in control of himself anymore, something took over…I don’t know. Sam just had rage and it took us two hours to get ourselves back together. I couldn’t even remember where the f**k the cabin was. My mind was a blur,” I got up, “we need to go see Raven,” I tell him, worried. He chuckles and shakes his head, looking at me, “I don’t feel anything anymore,” I pull my hand away and he looks worried, “I’m okay,” I shake my head, “what’s wrong?” He chuckles, “I’ve heard of things like that before, Ren,” he got up, “what do you mean?”
“I remember hearing stories from my parents about her, how she is able to control a wolves emotions without them realizing,” he was confused, “but I feel fine,” he chuckles going to me. I look up at him, “I’m fine,” he cups my face and kisses me.
