We were between a rock and a hard place.
If we allowed ourselves to be detained, we would lose the chance to reach the orphanage and save the orphans from what would undoubtedly be a violent raid by Luna Emma, who had already been capable of murdering a Lady of her pack. She wouldn’t hesitate to eliminate a group of kids to cover up any evidence that could reveal our origins and nature.
But if we resisted, we could trigger a confrontation that would bring us powerful enemies, and we would be reduced to little more than outcasts in the kingdom.
