The lycan king was our enemy simply because we existed and belonged to a lineage that had defied him.
"He wants you dead because your very existence challenges him," said Luna Emma, as if it wasn’t already clear who we were up against. "We were supposed to keep you hidden, here, in our pack, as our biological children who had returned after almost ten years from a boarding school in Switzerland. No one was supposed to know who you really were, not even the people of our pack, but everything began to fall apart the moment you transformed."
"Wait, mom," I exclaimed, "Did you really not know we were lycans? But if we're from the Ventrue lineage, and you knew that, how could it have surprised you that we were lycans?"
