Chapter 14 Stop. (Seraphine’s POV) The door creaked open. I lowered my legs and readjusted my nightdress. Valefar slunk into my bedroom and I somehow convinced myself to look him in the face. “Sera,” I cringed. I hated the slimy voice he used to taint my name. “Master Valefar,” I moved away from him as he sat on the end of my bed. His clothes were dishevelled, his hair a blonde mess. Despite it all, I found myself concerned for him. “Are you alright?” It should have been him asking me that, and yet there I was, being as pathetic as usual. “Yes, yes, I was just…” The words died on his tongue.
