A small creak from somewhere on the first floor wakes me up.
I get up as I listen to the crickets as the sensation of metal appears into the palm of my hand.
I continue to listen, but it’s gone, the slight creak disappears as if it was never there in the first place.
‘it could have been him trying to explore the house out of boredom.’
I sigh softly as the sword disappears into thin air and begins to walk down to the first floor as I run my fingers through my hair.
The figure of a man stands as it looks out of the dining hall window.
His posture tells me that he's relaxed and taking in the view of the garden as I walk past him and into the kitchen.
I grab a glass of water as I begin to hear footsteps coming in from behind me, “you shouldn’t be down here, what if my sister catches you?” I begin to drink but the hand that is holding the glass freezes as I begin to shake.
‘I never got him black clothes.’
I sense the man behind me as I move away, acting as if I do not notice it. “I told you that you should be careful when leaving your room. What if you get caught?”
I stop in front of the knife sets as I quickly reach for one and immediately look behind me as the figure in front of me moves backward as soon as they feel the swing of the knife touch his chest.
‘he's fast, but not fast enough.’
He looks at his chest as he examines the wound I just inflicted and with a pair of shocked eyes, he looks at me.
“you must be the oldest one.” He says coldly as he laughs. “they told me to just kill the youngest daughter as a warning, but I think I’ll have a bit of fun killing you both instead.”
“Who are they?” I ask as I continue to drink my water as I cross my arms while I hold the knife weakly.
The man continues to stare as he looks at me up and down as his hoarse voice laughs more deeply. “well it’s not like you are going to live through this, a man that goes by the name of Artema sent me to make a ruckus. Kill the youngest daughter.”
I smile as the glass leaves my lips, “thank you, you have done me a great service.”
He begins to run towards me, but I beat him to it as I throw the glass cup towards him causing him to stop in order to cut through it with his blades.
While he focuses on that I swiftly move to the front of him as the shards of glass fly towards the ground and I swing the knife.
A second passes before his entire neck begins to spill out warm blood like streams as he begins to fall but I manage to catch him before his body makes a loud thud.
I slowly place him on the ground as I sigh softly at the sight of blood all over the floor. ‘great, now I'm going to have to clean this s**t up.’
I look at my clothes and I can feel the blood of this man all over the front of my nightdress and my hands.
‘its been a while since I truly felt blood to this extent.’ I clean the blood that managed to splash into my face as I rub it away with my arm but that only makes the sensation feel worse.
I turn towards the sink as I begin to wash the knife when I hear a familiar voice, “you have killed before.”
I continue to wash the knife until it is completely clean as I put it away and face him.
He stands by the doorway with his arms crossed against his chest, his expression is slightly amused as he stares at the guy on the ground. “such a clean-cut, I’d say that this isn’t your first time murdering a man.”
I walk towards the dead body as I begin to investigate his pockets. Trying to find something, anything that can help me build up some concrete evidence about the people behind this. “that’s because it’s not.”
“Is this what you meant by you have your own way of being a valuable partner?” He walks inside as he leans against the wall while I continue to look inside of the coats of the guy on the ground.
I begin to feel his chest as I try to feel for anything that might be hidden as Alec frowns.
“is feeling a dead man really something that you should be doing right now?” he stares down at me with eyes as sharp as blades and I freeze.
When I come back to my senses, I look up at him “what? No that’s not what,” I continue to feel the guy as I sense something solid on his back and I flip him over. “yes! Come on lets this be good.”
Tied to his back in a small thin purse with a notebook.
I open it as I begin to look at the contents and smile widely.
The notebook contains loose letters from the person who ordered him to kill me along with a couple of more orders to do after the mission was done. The signature at the end has an official seal, the seal of the person currently in charge of the Dukedom of Vespers. I laugh as I close the notebook and hide the notebook behind a tile on the wall of the kitchen.
It was initially something that I had discovered about a year ago when I decided that I needed to get to know every nook and cranny of this entire mansion if I wanted to be in full control of everything that happened around here.
‘looks like we'll be able to hit two birds with one stone.’
“my sister is one of the best knights out there, but that’s exactly why she can’t be the one to help you.” I answer to his previous question. “she’s a knight, her job is to protect people, if that suddenly means killing a few while protecting the ones behind her then so be it right?” he stares at me as he suddenly begins to look at me nervously. “but that’s the main thing about her, if she were to help you she would be your sword, she would protect you and in the process, she could die but she won't hit unless the other side hits first.” I turn my body to face him properly “I on the other hand can be your shadow, someone who won’t stand out. I will be able to protect you, I will throw the first hit if I have to whether it's direct or indirectly ill be able to do it while succeeding and most importantly, I won’t die because my goal would not be to protect you, but to kill for you.”
He looks as if he's not breathing for a second before I continue by picking up the dead guy from the floor and attempting to carry him.
“I’ve got this.” He says as he moves closer to me and grabs the guys body and swings it over his shoulder. “if you kill for me, the least I can do is pick up the bodies.”
He walks away as I look at the floor. ‘we should hurry, we can’t have someone walking in on this.’
I run towards him as I catch up to him. “I have a place where we can take him.”
We continue to walk through the woods until we finally make it to the small body of water filled with crystals.
“wait, isn’t this?” he looks at me with a confused expression as he loses his words.
“I told you about how some people don’t know the beauty of something until they see it with their own eyes right?” I turn to look at him with a smile. “put him in the water.”
He stares at me with a confused expression as he turns to look at the water and then he finally decides to trust me as he throws the man in the water.
“good.” I get inside of the water as it begins to glow. Revealing the blood of the man spreading around the crystal-clear water as the crystals begin to glow even further.
I continue to stare at the body as I whisper an incantation.
The body begins to glow as it begins to disappear and whatever light is left of it begins to float to the crystals below. One it's over the water goes back to its crystal-clear constitution.
I dive into the water as I wash my body out of the blood and then look up at him. “you aren’t going to clean yourself?” he looks at the water with a slight frown until his eyes look at my body as I begin to get out of the water.
He looks away almost instantly as I stare at him with a confused expression.
“oh wait…” I look at the clothes I'm wearing and slowly turn myself away.
You can see everything since my dress is made of silk due to the water it sticks to my body like a bodysuit and since I was sleeping I took off any undergarments so my n*****s are popping out in full view. Adding to the fact that I just got in cold water, so they are fully erect.
“ill be heading back first so…”
The feeling of a shirt covering me surprises me as he looks away again when I turn to look at him. “wear that for now, I won’t take long. I didn’t get as covered in blood as you did.” He kneels as I put my arms inside of the long sleeves and close the front of the shirt with my arms.
I observe him as he cleans his hands and neck slightly with the water. Once he's done he gets up as he heads towards me. “I know the way back so just stay behind me.” He begins to walk towards the house shirtless as I just stare at the countless scars on his back without saying a word.
Once we make it back to the house I begin to walk towards the kitchen.
“where are you going?” I flinch as his words come out almost like a warning.
“I need to clean the blood from the floor before anyone sees it.”
“go change first.” He says as he looks away from me, but I do not listen and continue to walk towards the kitchen.
“hey!” he sighs slightly as he walks behind me.
Once we have cleaned the entire floor with soap and water I sigh as I begin to wonder if what I'm feeling is the water from the small lake or my own sweat from having to do physical labor.
He walks me to my room as I shiver slightly from the cool breeze.
“This is why I told you to change first.” He says as he looks annoyed.
“yeah ill”
We hear footsteps coming towards us, they sound heavy but firm as I gasp. ‘Lenna’
I freak out as I pull him inside of my room, I try my hardest to close the door without making a sound but by the time I close it completely the sound of the footsteps are merely inches away. I freak out, without any time left to choose an appropriate place to hide Alec. I pull him as he follows without any objections as I push him into the bed. “get under the covers” I whisper as he gets inside and I quickly jump next to him I cover myself up to my neck and grab a pillow to put it next to me under the covers as if I'm hugging it and close my eyes.
The sound of my door creaks open and I tense up. ‘don’t let her notice my wet hair. Please.’
She stands a few feet away from me as she yawns. “Blair are you up?”
I bite my lip as I begin to feel the uncomfortable sensation of warm air hitting my boobs. ‘this guy just had to face me.’
“I thought I hear someone talk,” Lenna says to herself out loud as she yawns again. “maybe I dreamed it.” She says as she walks out of my room.
I wait a minute before I can finally breathe out. ‘that was close.’
I sit up as I begin to get out of the bed and walk towards the door as carefully as I can.
I listen to the sound of footsteps as the thud of a door finally lets me know that she has gone back to her room. “she’s finally back in her room, you should go to your room as well. It's about to be morning.” I whisper as I open the door carefully.
Alec walks out of the room without any words as he heads straight to his room.
Once I finally close the door I lean against the door as I sigh profoundly. ‘that s**t could have ended badly.’
I observe my hands as I sit with my back against the door.
‘well if anything, everything Is going according to plan.’ The image of my hands covered in warm blood passes through my head as I continue to stare at them. ‘they can send as many as they want. I'll just continue to kill them off. What does it matter anyway? They’ll all be dead soon anyway.’
A smile makes it to my lips.
