Chapter 16 - Forgiveness.

1024 Words
Alex's P.O.V “Your mother, her time has lessened, she no longer has her three days...she doesn't have much time at all." If only I had listened to her...none of this would have happened. Why do I always have to mess things up? Cause people pain and suffering! If I can't have pulled the stupid prank in the first place none of this would be happening! Poor Sophie, How does she put up with me? She probably thinks that this is her fault. She looked conflicted and confused, hesitant about what she should do and it's all my fault. She is freezing rubbing her shoulders, trying to rid the bitterness from the world. Her wet undergarments dampened her yellow dress. I knew that she wanted to tell me about them but she feared upsetting me. I slowly got up off of my knees reaching into my bag to pull out a pair of white underwear. Her face would be beetroot red so I looked for a place that would shelter her from prying eyes such as my own... I might think of her as a sister but I'm still a horny teenage guy and she's a teenage girl... My eyes are going to stray. "Sophie, here." Handing her the clothing she froze. I had to place the garments onto her lap. "What-How? How did you know?" I'd chuckle if I wasn't so discouraged by the heartfelt news. "You wouldn't want to know." She looked down at herself before letting out a loud shriek. "I-I'm deeply sorry...I didn't even bother to look. I'll change right away." I pointed her in the direction on the porch where some old ply boards were left to rot. I'm sure that she can think of something. She did have the power to set herself but I'm sure that magic is the last thing crossing her mind at the moment. The rain soon turned into something of greater violence. Desperate to hurt innocent people as angry bolts of lighting struck unpredictable places. I think that these brutal lightings are made to hit me. End my pathetic existence from this world and finally put the world at rest. We were going to the museum but the weather had other plans. Sophie lifted one of the boards upright, blocking my eyes from looking. After a couple of minutes, the board fell with a loud Bang! On the floor, vibrating the wooden floors below. "All done," she said, brushing down her yellow dress. She hesitantly came over to me, sitting on the bench. I looked at the rain that was slowly causing floods. The garbage that the neighbours left was being washed up in front of the drains, blocking it from draining the water gradually building upon the roads. "Look at that, another catastrophe happening, I guess I'm not going to be the only one today huh Soph." "Can't you forgive me? I am deeply sorry for doing something so stupid Alex, I'll make it right I promise." Running her hands through her ash white hair I sat beside pulling her into a huge hug. I remember my reaction to her declaration. She was shocked, coughing up the cold treat that settled at her throat. "What?" I asked, the pool of tears finally breaking free, rushing down my cheeks like a volcano exploding got lava. "I-I'm sorry Alex. I didn't mean for any of this to happen, I should have refused when you told me nothing would go wrong. I'm the guardian not the other way around… and because I failed to take up my role your mother's time has lessened." Tears fell from her eyes as well. At first, I felt anger. Angry at her for making such a stupid decision but then I realized that she only did it because I told her to. It would be too cruel to blame her. Taking in a deep breath I loosened my hold on her wrists, rubbing the bruises. "Well...what should we do now?" She looked at me, brows furrowed to the max. "This isn't your fault. It's mine so don't blame yourself. If I can't have pushed you to do something that you didn't want to do in the first place, my mother would still have her promised time." "No...it isn't your fault it's-" I placed my index finger over her lips to shush her, she instantly took in a gulp of fresh air. Brushing my hand away from her lips. "It isn't your fault, we don't even know for sure, Elfie will tell us once this rain settles down." Pulling her in for another hug she quickly wrapped her hands around my waist. I rocked her back and forth as she cried. I could only hope that Elfie would prove her wrong, she did get the information from her future self anyway. "How do you know this for sure? How...how can you be certain?" I asked, desperate for her to say that she isn't. "The note, I realize why you can't see it. I found it in the shower, the place where I always place my products to wash my hair and shower. The future me must have enchanted it only for my eyes to avoid further troubles," "The piece of paper that you shoved there?" She reached for it, unfolding it. The paper was still blank but soon she held it close to her face. "Elcanfior Chetwior." Suddenly, letters began to reveal themselves on the note. It had seven words on it. "You ruin the timeline by being seen." Crap! Couldn't she be wrong for once? Especially at a time like this? Squeezing her tightly I listened as the harsh storm soothed to rain until the sun began to shine once more. "You will be able to show him this note and he'll tell us what to do ok?" She nods, moving back to see that the rain was no longer. Suddenly, she checked, rubbing her tears away from her eyes. "Alright you half-wit, let's go." She barked, I narrowed my eyes at her. "Don't push it," I said before rubbing her hair and following her off the porch.
