Chapter 9

''Ok, then lets go'' I said and drove past cars and people at a moderate speed and noticed her hands get tighter around me.

I sped past the cars and people as I went to a highway no body really drove on,

''Are you ready for a real ride?'' I asked stopping the bike for a minute to let her catch her breath.

She looked at me and said, ''You didn't count what we just did as a ride?'' panting

''No, you said you wannted a real one'' I said giggling.

''Well, then ok'' she said getting back up.

''Can you ride?'' I asked her

''No. Well, only cars'' she said meekly

''Ok. sure'' I said smiling in my head but not showing it because I didn't want to upset her.

''Are you ready?'' I asked

''Yeah'' and she put her hands round me

''You are going to have to hold on tighter than that.'' I said and smiled at her and I could see her go pink.

''Well, ok'' she said and held on tighter.

''Lets go for a ride then'' I said and sped off.

This was amazing. It was like riding the best ferry as a kid or the feeling you get when your parents finally let you get that sweet or dress you get.

As I was speeding up, I decided to check if she was safe and comfortable, ''Are you ok?'' I asked while concentrating on the road.

''Yeah, its just you're going really fast'' she shouted over the bike noise

''We haven't even got to the c****x'' I whined

''You mean, we haven't alrealdy'' she shouted and I feel her clinging to my top and I wasn't sure if it was out of fear.

''We haven't but before I get to the c****x, I just want to check something. Are you scared of heights?'' I asked

''No, but why-'' her voice trailed off as I got the bike off the ground. It was like the bike was floating which was really boring on its own, so I decided to speed and I elt her grab me suddenly.

''God, do you want me to fall off?'' she asked and I could hear the fear in her voice.

''I'm sorry, should I stop?'' I asked concerned.

''No, just be careful'' she said and then continued, ''Also, I'm hungry'' and I laughed

''No problem, we'll land soon and luckily we are close to Mc' Donalds.'' I said and enjoyed the ride and I could feel my hair being moved by the breeze but June didn't complain and I could see she was enjoying it too. She had her head on my back and her hands were rested more comfortably around my waist.

I decided it was time to land when the road was getting closer to where people where. When I landed, June was the first to exclaim,

"Why did you land? Just when I was starting to get a hang of it.'' as I rode back to the arms of humanity, adventure was over for her I guess.

''We're getting closer to where people are June. I can't have people seeing a flying bike. That would just seem weird'' I said like I was stating the obvious.

''You're probably right'' she said understandingly.

We arrived at Mc' Donalds in silence and when we entered, luckily for us, it wasn't busy.

We took a table at a corner by a window.

We talked a bit before our order came so as not to get bored.

''Why don't you want people to know you have a flying bike or that they exist?'' she asked

''Its a secret'' I said truthfully. I couldn't start explaining that I was a rich vampire and that my clan had really cool gadgets that humans don't know but will freak out if they do find out, it was just too complicated.

''A secret? Do I get details?'' she asked as the brought our meals. She had ordered a burger and a coke while I ordered Fish, Chips and a coke.

''No, not until I really know you and I'm sure you won't spill to anyone else, that I can trust you'' I said

"Well, how long will that take?'' she asked biting into her burger

''Well, no body knows exactly how long it takes for someone to earn your trust'' I said looking out of the blinds and on to the parking lot where my bike was parked in between white lines that showed me were I was meant to park.

I looked back at her munching down her burger while I took regular bites of my fish and chips and then she said,

''Well, you'll trust me over time'' she said and then a waitress came to collect our dishes and our money.

I saw June bringing out her wallet to get some cash so I said,

"Don't worry about that, I'll pay for it'' I said bring out my own wallet

''Are you sure?'' she asked

''Yeah, I'm sure.'' and I paid the waitress before we got up to leave

''So, where do you live?'' I asked as we walked towards m bike

''Why?'' she asked

''So that I can give you a lift'' I said with a little laugh before I noticed there was something wrong.

''Um...'' she said with fear and confusion written on her face

''You don't have a place to stay?'' I said as a joke but then I saw I was right by the way she wrinkled her face.

''Wait, I'm sorry. I didn't know, it was a slip of tongue..'' I didn't know what to say, it just felt awkward

''Its no problem, you can just leave me here and head on home. I'll find somewhere, it isn't your fault.'' She said sounding as awkward as I felt.

I couldn't just leave her here, it wasn't safe. I had three rooms at home but only two were in use and just recently, one, since I had locked Maia's room.

''You can stay with me'' I blurted out without thinking

''I don't want to impose'' she said

''Well, its ok, I don't mind. I have actually been needing company.'' I said with a smile

''Really? Well I am a great companion to have.'' she said and giggled.

''Well, lets go then.'' I said and climbed the bike.

''Thanks so much'' she said climbing up.

''Do you have any stuff?'' I asked concerned

''Its a long story'' she said with a blush

''Well, you don't have to tell me if it is sensitive but you can get your stuff some other time and move in'' I said and rode off.
