Heavy footsteps could be heard approaching from outside, just before the wooden door of the pavilion was kicked open. The hinges screeched loudly, slamming against the wall and shattering the silence of the night. Kino jerked awake. His body reflexively curled up in the corner of the rickety bed. He shivered violently under the dirty bandages that covered half his face. His breath came in gasps, his eyes wide with panic as he saw the two figures bursting in. "Have you completely lost your mind, Nixie?" Mrs. Ender screamed, her voice cutting through the damp air in the cramped room. Marcus Ender stepped in behind the middle-aged woman. He was wearing a light blue shirt over a neatly tailored brown vest, paired with navy blue pants - an elegant and expensive look that stood in stark contrast to this shabby pavilion. Marcus covered his nose with his handkerchief and stared at Kino like he was looking at a dead rat. "What gutter did you pull this silent piece of junk out of, Nixie?" Marcus sneered. His expensive leather shoes kicked the bed frame hard. Kino jumped. His body swayed and he fell, leaning against the wall; both hands shot up to cover his head, as if bracing for a blow. Marcus snorted in amusement at this pathetic reaction. He leaned forward and gave Kino's bandaged cheek a rough slap. "Hey, Mute. You do understand human language, right? Or has your brain been fried too?" Kino could only stare at him with a blank stare filled with sheer terror. His chest rose and fell quickly. He made no sound except for the sound of his labored breathing. His body sank deeper into the corner of the bed. Before Marcus' hand could move again, Nixie's slender back thrust forward. The woman spread her arms, using her body as a shield between the bed and her older brother. "Stop it, Marcus! Don't touch him!" Nixie shouted in a trembling but firm voice. "He's badly hurt and has no one. I'll pay for his treatment. He's not leaving this pavilion!" Mrs. Ender let out a sharp snort and glared at her daughter as if she were a disgrace. "As long as you breathe under my roof, you must obey me! We're expecting important guests tomorrow night. If even one guest sees this madman on our property... I'll throw you and your beloved parasite out into the street!" With a last disgusted glance at the bed, the woman turned and walked out. Marcus grinned cynically, straightened the collar of his vest, then deliberately spat on the floor right at Kino's feet before slamming the door. The room fell silent again. Nixie let out a long sigh, her shoulders slumping. She turned to Kino and forced a bitter smile as she wiped tears from the corners of her eyes. "Please forgive my family," Nixie whispered quietly. Sitting on the edge of the bed, she opened the first aid kit and began gently smoothing Kino's bandage. "Don't be afraid. You're safe here." Kino looked down. Hesitantly, his dirty, trembling right hand reached out and gently touched the back of Nixie's hand. A fragile gesture from a crippled man, deeply grateful to have been rescued. Nixie smiled more sincerely this time. "Wait a moment, I'll get you some warm water and clean clothes from the house outside," she said. As soon as the pavilion door closed again and Nixie's footsteps had completely faded away, the room was completely silent. Then something strange happened. The trembling in Kino's body stopped. Completely. His back, which had been bent in fear, slowly straightened. His ragged breathing became a slow, almost silent rhythm. The vacant, panicked look in his eyes vanished without a trace, replaced by a piercing gaze that radiated a murderous aura as cold as the ocean floor. He pulled back the collar of his tattered shirt. Beneath the dirty fabric lay a delicate gold chain with a pristine initial pendant - the only remnant of his dark past. From under the thick bandage on his left arm, Kino's long fingers moved. There was no longer any doubt. With lightning speed and the deadly precision of an elite assassin, he pulled out a coin-sized micro-hacking device and attached it to the wooden wall. Within two seconds, a blue display lit up. A transparent screen the size of a palm appeared. Rows of green code flowed rapidly, mapping the entire network topology of Ender's residence. In a matter of seconds, Kino had penetrated their extremely amateurish cyber defenses. The entire security system, communications, and surveillance cameras at Ender's residence were now under the absolute control of his fingers. "The Ender family residence... turns out to be so disgusting on the inside," Kino thought coldly. By hacking into root access, Kino unlocked all of Marcus and Mrs. Ender's personal files. Hidden surveillance cameras in the main house were now streaming live video to his device. He saw Marcus standing in the living room, sipping expensive whiskey and laughing with his mother. On another screen, he saw the Ender family's secret corporate ledgers-a maze of tax evasion, money laundering, and debts to organized crime groups in Oakhaven. Kino flashed a faint smile from behind his mask and bandages. This family is on the verge of bankruptcy, yet they still flaunt their false luxury at the expense of Nixie's suffering. His fingers danced across the holographic interface, downloading all of their illicit transaction data into his encrypted cloud. Every piece of evidence of Marcus and his mother's crimes was neatly compiled, ready to be turned into a time bomb that would destroy their reputations in an instant. Mrs. Ender mentioned an "important guest" arriving tomorrow night. Kino clicked on the schedule attachment in Marcus's personal email. A name popped up on the screen: Dashiel Vance-a young entrepreneur who had become the primary financial backer to cover the Ender family's debts. In this agreement, Marcus planned to force Nixie to marry Dash in order to secure a five million dollar investment. Kino's heart fluttered slightly. Not out of fear, but out of a cold, burning wave of rage. They were going to sell Nixie to cover their own business losses. Suddenly, the sound of light footsteps came from the path outside. The footsteps were hurried, in contrast to Marcus' heavy steps earlier. Nixie was back.
