Damien carried me into the car, his arms strong was around me. He didn’t say a word, and neither did I as he placed me carefully in the passenger seat. The door shut with a solid thunk, and seconds later, the car’s engine roared to life. He slid into the driver’s seat without sparing me a glance as he sped off. I didn’t know where he was taking me, and for a moment, I didn’t dare ask. My heart was still racing from everything that had happened earlier, my mind replaying flashes of images I wanted desperately to erase. I sneaked a glance at him.
