Mal watched as Dan hopped into the flatbed truck and started out the gate. The trailer hitched behind the truck caught his eye. Like the truck, it had a wooden rack about six feet high. Both were open at the top, although they could probably be covered with a tarp if need be. At first he was puzzled, but then he remembered some similar rigs farmers back home had used. They were multi-purpose and could haul livestock, hay or other feed, lumber or fencing materials—in short, just about anything. While not as fancy as the sleek, covered commercial horse trailers, they were pretty practical. After the dust settled, he explored the garage and measured the empty corner where Dan had mentioned he wanted a workbench and some shelving.
