Moonbound Hearts
The moon hung low in the sky, full and soft like silver velvet, casting a gentle glow over Ravencroft. It had been weeks since the battle that tore the forest apart and rebuilt their future. Where there was once blood, fear, and shadows, now there was peace.
Peter stood at the edge of the lake, its surface mirroring the stars. He was no longer haunted by Marcus's memories. They had finally become one within him—resolved, whole, quiet.
Footsteps approached behind him, light and familiar.
“You always find the stillest places,” Melinda said.
Peter turned to her. Her auburn hair fell loose over her shoulders, and her eyes gleamed with the moonlight. She was barefoot, her dress brushing the grass as she walked to him.
“I like the quiet,” he replied. “But it’s never really quiet when you’re near.”
She smiled softly. “Is that your way of saying I talk too much?”
He chuckled and shook his head. “No. It’s my way of saying... you bring life. You always did.”
They stood together, shoulder to shoulder. The water lapped gently at the shore.
Melinda looked up at the moon. “Do you remember what you said to me the night Marcus died?”
Peter nodded. “I said I wasn’t him.”
“And I said I didn’t want Marcus.”
She turned to face him fully now. “I wanted you. I still do.”
He took her hand. “Then let’s stop waiting. Let’s stop holding back because we’re afraid of the past.”
Her voice trembled. “You’re not afraid?”
“I’m terrified,” he said. “But loving you... I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”
Tears welled in her eyes. “Then kiss me, Peter. Before I fall apart.”
He cupped her face, gently brushing his thumb against her cheek. And then, under the watchful gaze of the moon that had once cursed him, he kissed her. It wasn’t rushed. It wasn’t desperate. It was deep, full of the pain they had survived and the future they were choosing.
When they broke apart, she leaned into his chest, and he wrapped his arms around her tightly.
“I want a life with you,” he whispered into her hair. “Not just as pack leaders. Not just because we were bound. But because I love you.”
She looked up, eyes shining. “Then let’s build it.”

Later that night, they lay together in the open meadow, the stars dancing above them. The world was quiet, but their hearts were loud with promises.
“I always thought I’d be alone,” Peter murmured, running his fingers along her arm.
“You were never alone,” she replied, pressing a kiss to his jaw. “You just hadn’t found your moon yet.”
He smiled. “And now?”
She rolled on top of him, her hair cascading down like a curtain of fire. “Now you’ve found her.”
Epilogue: One Year Later
The new Ravencroft pack thrived. The meadow had become their sacred place—where rituals were held under the stars and stories passed down around a central flame.
And Peter? He stood at the heart of it all. Not because of a prophecy. Not because of power.
But because he had chosen love—and it had chosen him back.
As the moon rose high above, Peter felt her arms wrap around his waist from behind.
“Come inside,” Melinda whispered. “I have something to show you.”
He turned, heart already pounding. “What is it?”
She took his hand, placed it gently over her stomach, and looked into his eyes with a smile.
“It’s time for a new chapter.”

THE END
Moonbound... and heartfully, eternally in love.
