Chapter Eight Aoife cast a quick glance over at the picnic basket in the passenger seat of her car. One way or another, she was going to get Lir away from his children for a couple of hours, so the two of them could be alone for a while. She had even brought a treat for the kids so they wouldn’t feel left out. He needed a break, and she was determined to give it to him. However, as she pulled into the driveway, Lir rushed out of his cabin, buttoning his shirt as he went. Glancing up, he saw her, and what looked like relief washed over his face. A sinking feeling filled the pit of Aoife’s stomach. Somehow, she knew by that look that it wasn’t the children who would ruin her plans this time.
