2.Reality Check

Serenity’s POV:

Have you ever watched a romance movie and thought to yourself, I want that?

well I have

The couples dance in the rain

they sing together

they go on cute dates

they just have the perfect love so cute and romantic

and it does feel like that in reality until

someone screws up

until everything comes crashing down without any warning

you think that because someone says 'I love you' it most definitely means that have a love for you

no, it doesn't

because someone can say those magical words and then turn around and do things that they know indefinitely will cause you the most hurt and most pain you have ever felt

so just a quick reminder I love you does not always mean I love you.

"Come on we're going to be late for schoooooollllll" I screamed as I rushed to get my bag off the couch

"Stop the shouting I can hear perfectly fine" he replied walking casually off the stairs

"You know that if we're late it's gonna be your fault," I said my hands folded

"And it's you're fault I'm gone" he replied standing still at the bottom of the stairs

"What did you say?" I asked my hands shaking

"I said it's your fault I'm dead serenity it's your fault"

"No, it's not" I replied my eyes welling up with tears

"Yes it is serenity"

"No," I mumbled while shaking my head while taking some steps back

"IT'S YOUR FAULT SERENITY YOU'RE THE REASON I'M-"

I shot up in my bed covered in cold sweat

My eyes blur trying to focus in my dark room

I looked around confused trying to locate the constant ringing noise that had been blasting in my room

My eyes landed on my bedside table and I saw my mom's home vibrating and flashing an unknown number on the screen

I grabbed my mom's phone and answered it with a horse "Hello"

"Hey is this Serenity?" an unfamiliar voice asked on the other side

"Yes, This Is she who's asking?" I asked placing my fingers over my eyes and rubbing them

"Um my name is Micheal I'm at this party and your girl Julia is really drunk right now and her ride ditched her so I called an emergency contact in her phone" he replied

I hurriedly jumped off the bed and slipped into my Hello Kitty bed slippers that were at the foot of it

I ripped off my bonnet and rushed to turn on the lights then grabbed my cardigan

"Um, could you tell me the address please?" I asked and grabbed the keys to my Honda Civic

"Oh yea it's 250 West Oakland Ave house #5"

"Thank you so much I'm on my way," I said before hanging up

I ran down the stairs grabbed a sticky note off the kitchen counter and wrote "PICKING UP JULIA BRB"

I glanced at the clock in the living room and saw it was 12:15 and I inwardly cursed

I have a babysitting job at 8 and wasn't sure I would be awake for that

I opened the door locked it behind and ran to my car

I got into the driver's seat inputted the address Micheal gave me and began speeding down the road

After about 45 minutes I arrived at the house which wasn't hard to recognize

There was loud blaring music coming from the house and colorful LED lights shined and glimmered

I got out of my car and ran to the door

I knocked heavily

I knocked once

And I knocked a third time this time with more force

Before I could knock a 4th time the door opened and I came face to face with a guy staring at me angrily

"The f**k you knocking in my door for?" he asked while sipping out of a red cup

I pushed past him and walked into the house hearing a loud HEY! Behind me

The moment I walked in I immediately scrunched up my nose in disgust

The house was hot and reeked of sweat alcohol and vomit

I pushed past the group that was dancing in the hallway and walked into the living room but I paused when I heard a chant in the kitchen

"JULIA"

I rushed into the kitchen and saw a half-naked Julia dancing on the island counter

She had on her pink lacey bra and she was slowly removing her jean shorts

I shoved through the crowd and pulled her off the counter with the crowd booing

I unzipped my jacket and threw it over her shoulders leaving me in only a white tank top

I ignored them grabbed her wrist and dragged her out of the house

"Serenity you are such a buzz kill" she giggled as I pulled her outside

I kept silent and pushed her into the backseat

"Serenity I'm sorry" she sobbed as I closed her door

I got in the driver's seat and began driving home

I glanced in the rearview and saw Julia sleeping and I sighed

I didn't want to bring her to her own home because I knew her parents would be upset

I pulled into my driveway and Julia was still asleep

I got out of the car and tried to wake her up

"Julia get up we got to get inside," I said as I gently shook her shoulders

She opened her eyes and made a groggy sound

I got her up to her feet closed the door and walked with her up to the steps

I got the key in and pushed the door with my feet

I sat her down on the living room couch and she began smiling

"Ahh I'm going to see Elijah I missed him," she said with a pout

"ELIJAH ELIJAH COME DOWN!" she began to shout and I rushed to cover her mouth

"Elijah's gone Julie he's gone," I said with a whisper

"Oh yeah" she replied and her face made a frown

"You can't keep doing this to you're self Julia you can't keep doing this it's not healthy," I said running my hands through my curls and pacing in circles

"And what you're doing is?" she asked lowly

"What are you talking about?" I asked my pacing coming to a stop

"I see the cuts on your hand Serenity" she replied and I instinctively rubbed my arm

"Everyone's falling apart me, your mom, you. You can't keep pretending that you aren't Sere" she whispered a few tears falling

"He's gone Sere he's gone he left me," she said while sobbing

I walked over to her on the couch and hugged her

"He's gone he's gone"
