This is the first time na may kalaban kaming dalawang demons at puro A Class pa talaga. Hindi naman kami mamamatay dito, hindi ba? HINDI DI BA?!

“Prepare for a fight,” Gin warned at nagkatingnan kaming apat na prinoprotektahan nila.

“We’ll fight, right?” I asked.

“We will,” Kali responded and his eyes changed.

Napatingin ako kay Gin at medyo hindi talaga siya komportable dito. Even Tempest was not in good condition. I glanced at Hex and Hugo and they were not calm- they were trembling maybe because they’re traumatized.

“I’m sorry Captain,” Kali said at napatingin sa amin si Gin. “We may be first years but we can fight at alam naming wala kayo sa tamang kondisyon ngayon. Let me lead my team.” he added with a smile.

Hindi siya nag aksaya ng oras at agad niyang tinuor ang demon na parang tao at tumingin sa amin ni Kailani. He doesn’t really have to speak because his eyes are telling us orders. 

“What? No! Teka lang!” Gin shouted but hindi niya kami napigilan.

Nandito sina Hex at Hugo sa tabi namin kaya tumalon lang kami para lagpasan sila. Hindi dapat ako matatakot. Bakit naman ako matatakot? Hindi ako mag-isa. I have to fight. My team mates are traumatized in this place, I just have to fight in behalf of them. Iyon lang naman.

The demon smiled shoeing his shark-like teeth which freaked me out pero hindi ako nagpadala. Ramdama kong may parating sa akin so I looks back with my hands open. Saktong tumama sa kamay ko ang dalawang sword na gawa sa yelo. I saw all Gin and other’s face and to be honest they looked so surprised.

I felt the demon’s presence at my back so I slid my foot at my side to slide my body and there I saw a demon’s claw na nailagan ko lang. The demon glanced down and our eyes met. I adjusted my sowrd at saktong dumating ako sa likoran niya. I forced my sword into his chest as Kailani raised his leg and kicked the demon’s head. The pressure was too intense to the point na nagsilipiran ang mga bushes na nasa gilid namin.

“Not bad,” the demon said with a creepy smile. His right hand was holding Kailani’s foot while his left hand was holding m sword causing him to bleed. “Marami nang dumaan na spirit casters dito pero so far, kayo pa ang nakatrap sa akin ng ganito,” he said and he chuckled. “But I did not say it’s enough though,” he added and just as he finished talking, his hand changed into a purple color. What’s that? My eyes widened with three spikes appeared at tumusok ito sa leeg namin. Now that’s unexpected.

Nabigla ako nang biglang tumilapon palayo si Gin at natumba kami ni Kailani. Kitang-kita ko sa malayo si Kali at Nieve na natumba rin and I noticed that we have been attacked by the same magic. Nandoon na rin si Tempest sa kanila. Hugo, Hex, Argo, and Lor were nowhere to be found. The next thing I knew, I saw Hugo and Hex wearing such heavy and angry expression at pumunta sa likoran namin ni Kailani para protektahan kami. Argo and Lor did the same to Kali and Nieve.

“I told you to stop, didn’t I?!” Gin panicked at alam kong stress na talaga siya. He really look worried and sad at the same time. “I’m the Captain, follow my orders!!” he shouted and he opened his portal and took a test tube. Antidote?

I glanced at the other side and I saw Hex and Hugo handling the demon. Bigla akong nakaramdam na may gumagalaw sa katawan ko. Something is going out. Nagulat na lang ako na biglang umubo na ako ng dugo. I glanced at Kailani and he did the same.

“Cygnus!! Kailani! Sh*t!!” Gin panicked at dinig ko ang pagkahulog ng antidote. HIndi naman nabasag pero nawala ang loob nito. “Dammit!!” he shouted. The blood that went out- its the poison. Our body fought with that demon’s poison. Napatingin ako nina Kali and he was watching us too. I smirked and he smirked back.

“You’ll die!!” the demon shouted at us kaya napatingin kami pabalik sa kanya. Hex and Hugo stepped back at napatingin sa amin ni Kailani. They were stunned to see us with blood.

“The antid-” di matapos na sabi ni Hugo nang makita niya na ang antidote ay nasa sahig na. The demon laughed so hard at talagang sabay pa silang tumawa pangit na demonyo na kalaban nina Kali.

“Hey,” Kailani said coldly at napatigil sa pagtawa ang dalawang demonyo.

“Stop talking! Control your breathing to lessen the spread of poison. Hindi pa tayo malayo sa gate. We’ll settle this on our own!” reklamo ni Hex.

I know what Kailani is thinking.

Kailani slowly stood up kahit na pinipigilan siya ni Hex. He was breathing deeply and he suddenly smirked.

“That was it?!” Kailani asked and he started laughing. This is it. “You think your stupid poison can kill me?!” he asked and he glanced at the opposite direction. “I mean, us?” he added at napatingin kaming lahat sa kabilang direksiyon. Kali was standing on the demon corpse while Nieve was sitting beside Kailani while holding the demon’s head with his warm smile. Again with that smile, ewan ko sa kanya.

“Demon poisons are fatal, what’s going on here?!” Hugo asked.

“I died with Cygnus’ deadliest poison and you think I’ll die with your stupid poison?” Kailani asked the demon at napatingin sa akin sina Gin. Minsan talaga, bobo talaga itong si Kailani.

“You what?!!!” Hex exclaimed.

Hindi sumagot si Kailani and he started tilting his head and every time he tilted his head, I hear cracks. This is the sign.

Hindi na ako sumali sa usapan at agad akong tumayo. I summoned 8 thin vines and the tip turned into sharp. The vines directly pierced into the demon’s body. Purple flowers started growing into the vines as my vision turned purple. Kailani jumped into my vines so I combined them all at ginamit niya ito bilang daanan at tumakbo siya.

A strong wind hit our direction and the petals started flying away. Watching Kailani’s back as he run towards the demon made my heart flutter. Not to mention the petals na nakapaligid sa kanya habang siya ay tumatakbo. It lowkey reminds me of sakura flowers or is well known as the cherry blossoms.

“Pretty,” I whispered and the next thing I knew. Kailani’s feet burned into flames. My vines started burning too. I almost panicked when it was near me but the moment it hit my back- I was feeling something unexpected.

“Kailani!! Cygnus is burning!!” Hex panicked but Kailani didn’t listen.

Kailani’s fire is surprisingly warm.

Napangiti ako ang unleased more vines mula sa tinapakan ni Kailani and pierece the demon’s lower body as he kicked the head. I saw the demon’s head flew away at bumitaw na ako sa katawan ng demon. Kailani stood up properly at tumingin sa akin. The petals were still flying away and it was perfectly combined with his pure black hair and black eyes.

“He’s really beautiful,”  I suddenly said. Kailani’s eyes widened at napatingin ako sa gilid ko. Gin, Hugo and Hex were surprised as Kailani. Bruh- I’M MORE SURPRISED THAN YOU GUYS. WHY DID I EVEN SAY THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Napatingin ulit ako kay Kailani who was giving me a teasing smile.

“Thanks,” he said and I hurriedly deactivated my vine na tinayoan niya at agad siyang nahulog.

Ramdam ko ang pamumula ng mukha ko kaya umatras na ako at naglakad palayo. Am I dumb?!

“Oy! Teka! Grabe ka naman sa akin!” I heard Kailani said pero hindi ako lumingin. “Cygnus!” he called pero hindi ako lumingon. Ang bobo ko!!

Tumigil ako sa gitna kung saan nakaantay sina Kali.

“I can’t believe you guys improved with just one mission!” Lor said with a smile while tapping our shoulders. “You might wondered why that A Class was weak, it was a new transformation kaya medyo mahina pa iyon,” he explained pero hindi ko talaga alam kung naiintindihan ko sinabi niya kasi parang ikakamatay ko ang hiya ko ngayon.

“You did well, Kailani!” Lor added at biglang tumabi si Kailani sa akin kaya dahan-dahan akong umiwas ng tingin.

“I know,” he replied with a smile. “He even called me beautiful,” he added at napatigil silang lahat at napatingin sa akin.

My patience was up so I glanced at Kailani who was smiling cheerfully.

“Bobo ka ba?!” reklamo ko at binutkan ko ang ulo niya.

“What? Kahit tanongin niyo pa sila Captain!” he said while pointing Gin who was looking at me.

“He did,” bigla niyang sabi kaya nanigas ako.

Seriously?!!!

“That doesn’t matter for now,” biglang singit ni Gin. “Please do no do that next time. It was a reckless move. Kasasabi ko lang na hindi tayo pwedeng maghiwalay,” he added and the atmosphere changed. Yeah, aaminin namin- it was out fault at sadyang nakapili lang kami ng hindi matigas na kalaban. What if that poison was stronger than mine? Then, all four of us would’ve been died back then. I guess we consider that as a lucky encounter.

“I’m sorry. Gusto ko lang malaman niyo na kaya naming lumaban,” Kali reasoned out.

“Alam ko Kali,” Gin said. “I did not do that to protect the four of you,” he added at kumunot ang noo namin. Then what was that strategy for?

“What do you mean?” Nieve asked.

“Alam kong malakas kayong apat. Let’s say malakas nga kami but our magic is not good for defeating multiple demons so I planned on saving all of your magic when needed because honestly, I wanted to preserve Kailani’s strength, Nieve’s ice magic to freeze lower demons if we’re ambushed, your flexibility and speed at lalong’lalo na si Cygnus, we need his healing magic,” Gin replied.

Gin … he really is a wise captain.
