Nina's POV
The rest of the afternoon passed with a strange sense of urgency I couldn't quite explain.
For days, I had been searching for answers without knowing exactly where they would lead. Now, for the first time, I felt as though I had found a direction. Daniel Hayes was no longer a mystery buried inside an old notebook. He was a real person whose path had crossed with my father's shortly before both of them disappeared from my life forever.
The thought stayed with me all the way home.
As soon as I walked through the apartment door, Leo ran toward me with enough enthusiasm to nearly knock me backward.
"Mommy!"
I laughed and caught him before he crashed into my legs.
"Careful baby."
"You were gone forever."
"I was gone for three hours."
"That's forever mommy." He said grumpily
