Nina’s POV
The moment Ethan walked out of the bookstore, my legs almost gave out beneath me.
I stayed frozen behind the counter for several seconds, staring at the door he had just slammed shut through while my heartbeat refused to calm down. The look in his eyes before leaving unsettled me more than his questions did.
Because Ethan was no longer asking emotionally.
He was investigating.
And that made him dangerous.
Julian walked out from the back office almost immediately after Ethan left. One look at my face and his expression darkened.
“What happened?”
I shook my head slowly, trying to steady myself.
“He came asking if Leo his is son”
Julian frowned. “And what did you tell him ?”
“He investigated me went through every of my files including Leo's files”
