Serena Rosette
My body is heating up very much. I am not in the mood for standing or walking. I want someone to pick me up and carry me to my place. And fortunately today there are two men here, who would be happy to take this opportunity.
As the class came to an end, and the majority of the students departed, it was only Austin, Jenna, Ben, and myself who remained seated. My fatigue was so profound that I found myself leaning my head against the table in exhaustion. The burden of life was weighing heavily on my mind, and I longed for moments of respite from its constant demands.
Jenna placed her hand on my forehead and shouted lightly, “Oh god, Sere, look at you, your body is so heated up now. Stand up, we’re going to see the doctor,” I raised my head, looking at her face, I was about to say something, but she continued in a stern voice as if she got what I was saying “Without any further arguments.”
My health is indeed worse now, but I don’t want to see the doctor, they are very bad, they will give me an injection and I don’t like it. After all, who loves to take injections?
“Miss Serena?” a voice clinked in the room, all of us looked towards the voice, it was Alex. They all don’t know about the connection of us. I hope he won’t say anything about us.
“Yes sir?” Jenna asked him.
He looked at me, and said, “Serena, Sir asked me to give this tablet to you,” he handed me the tablets.
“Alex I don’t want it. I have tablets at home, I’ll take them when I arrive. Inform him I denied it, okay?” I don’t want to take any favors from him, and why should I?
“He ordered me strictly that until you take it one I’m not allowed to leave, so you should take one, so we both can free, please.” I know he likes to order everyone. But we don’t have any kind of relationship that he can order me.
“I said no means no. He can’t order me, got that. Tell him I’m not going to follow any order.” I stood up and took my bag from the chair.
“You know him, if you won’t take it now, he will come personally to give you. You should take it now unless you want him to come and give you personally,” he said. My temper was high now, but it was not his fault either, when his boss was only so stubborn and ordering, what he was going to do. I knew he was following his orders only.
“Fine,” I took the tablets fast, after swallowing the tablet, “Happy now?” I said.
“Yes and,”
“Now what?”
He gave me a scroll tied with a red ribbon. “Sir gave me to hand you this letter too.”
I took it from his hand and put it in the bag. “Anything else your Sir want me to do?” I asked him irritatedly.
“No, thanks for taking it, Serena. See you soon.” he smiled and started to move out.
See you soon, not in this birth now at least. after he left, I looked at my friends, they were watching me continuously.
“Come let’s go, I want to go home. Why staring at me?” I walked to the door.
They didn’t ask me anything for now, but I need to get ready to make an excuse, as not now but later they’ll ask me.
Thanks to god, he didn’t come to know that I hadn’t eaten anything from morning, or else he would have made me eat too. Why he is showing his concern for me now? What’s the use of this care now, he is already engaged, and if not then he will soon. When I needed his support he didn’t come to console me.
I know I only asked him not to come to look after me or try to contact me, but that doesn’t mean he has to do that. Anyway, it’s good that he didn’t. I can’t stay with him when at last he is going to leave me, breaking my heart.
I and Jenna, we both waited at the gate for Ben and Austin to bring the car. I was standing with the support of the wall, which was very cold, sending shivers to my body. but what I’m going to do with it?
“Sere, he was the assistant of Mr. Graves, right?” Jenna asked me suddenly. I was in my thoughts, and her question made me come out of my thoughts.
I nodded looking at her.
“How do you know them?”
I was about to say something, but Adrian came all of a sudden. I thought God was not with me today. First Mason and now him.
“Serena, how is your health?” Adrian asked.
Is any exam going on today? Everyone is just asking me questions continuously.
“Adrian, how come you know about her health?” Jenna asked him.
“She was going home walking under the rain. Didn’t she tell?” he said.
I was begging God now not to give me any further shock, I couldn’t take it anymore.
“So that’s how you are having high fever. Don’t you know your body is so sensitive?” Jenna asked me crossing her arms.
What I am going to reply to them now? How to tell the reason for getting drenched the other night? I saw yesterday the chief guest of today’s event shot a guy in the club and he was in the same club where we were enjoying our after-exam party. Should I tell them this?
Adrian wore his helmet, and before leaving, he added oil to the fire. “You should take care of your health, and make sure to get proper dressing at your ankle.”
As he left, Jenna looked at me, all ready to scold me. “Sere, don’t you think I owe an explanation now? Tell me, does Austin know about this?”
I shook my head, “Jenna don’t tell him. I am already getting scolded by everyone, since morning.” I joined my hands said.
“You should be, now answer my question,” she said. I was about to speak when I saw Ben and Austin coming in the car.
“Tomorrow morning, I promise. Just don’t tell now this to anyone.” She nodded and we sat in the car. Thankfully Austin was sitting in front, and not here.
I almost forgot about my ankle. After being reminded by Adrian, it’s aching. At least, Mason didn’t come to know about this. I was looking outside the window. Reminding me how the beautiful days were going, although not the way I liked to, but still.
Very soon Ben dropped us. I went into my room directly. I changed my clothes and lay on the bed, without wasting. I want to sleep.
I turned my room to dark before going to sleep. I was about to sleep when something cold touched my ankle, I opened the lights and found Jenna dressing my wound.
She is my best friend. I am happy to have her in my life after my mom, and dad. After dressing my wound she stood up and came to me holding a tray.
“Get up and drink this juice, the tablet won’t show its effect on an empty stomach.” She is my best friend, my caring best friend.
I took the glass and took the drink. After a while, I slept.
Later after a few hours, when I woke up. I was feeling kind of better.
I wish Mason to be the same way he was before. I started liking him and then all of a sudden, news of his engagement shattered me. Why he did do that to me? If he had told me earlier, I would have stopped myself from developing feelings towards him. It’s nothing new. He still cares for me, and he is still my caring dominant, I guess. I was able to see through his eyes when he found me in a fever.
I stepped into the kitchen to drink water. I saw Jenna preparing dinner for me. and left a note.
‘I’m sorry babe. I know your health is not good, and I should stay with you. but I have to go to meet a guy, Sam, you know I told you in the morning tomorrow. I have prepared dinner for you. eat it and take your medicine. and go to sleep. Don’t dare to skip dinner and medicine or I’ll directly call my uncle and tell him everything. then he will come here to see you.’
Does she think I’m a kid, who will get scared of Dad? and Dad will never come back here until he needs my help? I’m not going to eat dinner let’s see what you’ll do.
I drank water and was about to leave the room, when my stomach grumbled, telling me it wanted food. I thought let’s forget about her stupid warning, I ate the food. After that, I took medicine, which Mason gave me, and went to my room.
“Time to dive back into my leftover series,” I told myself, retrieving my laptop from the bag and opening Netflix. The familiar interface greeted me, and with a few clicks, I found the series I had paused in the middle during the hectic exam period.
The screen flickered to life, and the characters reappeared as if waiting for my return. I settled into my bed, adjusting the pillows for maximum comfort. The soft glow from the laptop bathed my room in a gentle light, creating a cozy atmosphere.
“Let’s see where we left off,” I whispered to myself, clicking on the episode that had been interrupted by the chaos of exams and unexpected encounters.
Just as I was about to immerse myself in the unfolding drama, my phone rang, and the name ‘Austin’ flashed on the screen. I sighed but smiled, knowing he cared about me. I paused the episode and answered the call and his concerned voice filled my ears.
