Chapter 3

Serena Rosette

I was waiting for Mason impatiently. I was unable to text him, as he is busy and I can’t disturb him. I spend my remaining days of the week studying and doing college work.

Then the day came when my wait was going to be over. He would arrive in the evening. Now I need to wait for a few hours more.

Today there were no lectures, I only had to visit a seminar, which ended. I didn’t tell to anyone about Mason, I just said that I have a boyfriend. I can’t tell his name or about the kind of relationship we have with anyone.

We were going to the cafe. Today Ben and I brought our bike to college. We were about to leave when a lady in a black top with a hat and glasses came to us.

“You are Sere, right?” she asked removing her glasses.

I nodded to her question. I was not sure whether I met her previously or not. I don’t know how she knew my name.

“Come then, I want to have a chat with you in the car. It will hardly take fifteen minutes,” she said, turning and starting to walk away.

“Excuse me, mam, Can I know who you are first?” I asked, the way she was showing her attitude to me I didn’t like it.

She turned to me, and smiled, “Who I am doesn’t matter right now, it’s about you, not me.” she said.

“I’m not going with you until you tell me about you,” I replied in her tone only.

“Fine then, I’m here to tell you something about ‘ZEE’. So if you want we can talk here only, it will save time, unless you want that.” She said while wearing her glasses, smiling at me.

As she mentioned the name ‘ZEE,’ a shiver ran down my spine, freezing me in place. My heart skipped a beat, and the realization hit me like a ton of bricks. ZEE was the name I used on that clandestine website, but how did she know? How could she possibly be aware that it was related to me?

“Fine let’s talk in the car,” I said hurriedly. Austin, Jenna, and Ben were looking at me. I don’t know what I’m going to tell them. She opened the door for me and asked me to sit in. Then from the other side, she sat.

She removed her glasses and hat. She was looking so beautiful and elegant. I was about to ask her about it to clear my thoughts, but before I could she started what she wanted to.

“See let’s not waste each other’s time. Coming straight to the point, I want you to stay away from Mason Graves. Look I know you both are in some kind of stupid b**m relationship. And that’s why I want you to go away from him.” She said in one go.

I was looking at her face with wide eyes. “Sorry, I don’t understand what you are saying, who are you and why are you saying all this?”

She sighed and then continued, “See you know Mason is rich, a bachelor, and a popular guy. If anyone came to know about all this, then his image would be affected, which I don’t want to happen. And apart from this, girls like you come to fulfill his desire in the name of money, which I don’t like.”

“Excuse me, mam. What do you mean by that?” I asked furiously. How dare she say to me that girls like me fulfill the desires of another man for the sake of money?

“I didn’t mean to hurt you, but he all previously did that so,”

“So you thought I might be like one of them right?” I cut her words.

“No no darling, I’m not saying that. I meant that you came near to him, once his desire is fulfilled he will throw you out from his world.”

I was about to say something, but before that, she held my hand and continued.

“Okay forget all this, the reason I want you to go away from her is that we are going to get engaged very soon. And now you only tell me, which girl will like that her fiance is sleeping with other girls to fulfill his desire. He and my parents don’t know about this, what if they came to know about it? Just think.”

She looked at me, to check whether her words affected me or not, and it did. My eyes were filled with water.

“I am helping you too, any innocent girl like you will fall in love with him. And then what happens in the end it just breaks your heart, when he just gives out the random amount to end the relationship. I was just helping you out by saving you from falling in love with him. You slept with him before he left for the business trip, right?”

She looked at me for the answer. I nodded and asked, “How come you know?”

“I just told you that we are getting engaged, so he must have told me this. For any relationship, trust is the most important part.”

Her words were like arrows giving me sharp pain in my heart.

“Fine consider this way, right now I compared with the girls who do all this for money, and you get so angry. Now just tell me, you are still a student, and that too be an excellent student, what if you’re called by that kind of words like w***e, slut, b***h and so words. Would you like it? Cause after knowing the truth, if you are continuing this, where you know very well that you’re going to get hurt at the end, these words would imply you.”

I closed my eyes to control my tears, and then asked her, “So you want me to leave him without asking or telling him all this?”

“Honestly, I want you to do the same. I don’t want him to misunderstand me, after all, we are going to get together soon. He told me he would tell you about this in a few days. But I don’t want you to break in front of him, so I told you right now. Anyway, he is coming after a few days, he postponed the time. If you want you can talk to him about this then that will be fine too. After all, he is going to tell you about it,”

“He didn’t inform me,” I said in a low voice.

“I told you, dear, why would he tell you all his things, I’m his soon-to-be fiancee, he will tell me.” She placed her hand on my shoulder to console me.

I was unable to bear her words more. “Fine I’ll end this relationship.,” I said and took my leave from the car.

Before leaving she said, “Take care dear, and think properly about what I said.”

After she left, Jenna came to me, “Who was she?” she asked.

“Friend,” I replied, controlling my tears. “Jenna you take my bike and go home, I want to stay alone for a while. I’ll be back soon.” I gave keys to her, and without looking at her, I made my way.

I didn’t know where I was going, I was not in my senses, and her words were killing me from the inside. I went to the park and sat there on the bench near the lake. I was crying thinking about her words.

My phone beeped, it was his message.

Mason: Sorry Sere, work came. I’ll be back in a few days. I’ll call, once I get time.

So she was right. He is coming after a few days. How could he do this to me? How can he cheat me? I never thought he would do something like this.

I stood up and went to my home. All were busy watching TV. I closed the door and went directly to my room.

I started crying again, and with that, I opened my laptop logged in to that site, and texted him my last message.

‘I don’t want to carry this relationship further. I’m sorry for this. Please don’t text me or call me. Don’t come to look for me.’

I logged out and then I started to cry more. Jenna, Austin, and Ben all came running to my room as they heard my cry.

“What happened Sere?” she asked worriedly. She hugged me, consoling me.

“I broke up with him,” I said cryingly. I was hurt today. I was crying like hell. Jenna helped me sleep.

The next day I changed my phone number. My friends helped me to move on from this. A few weeks later, we changed our house too, I insisted.

FLASHBACK END

It’s been a year since then. From that day to this day, I never met him, talked to him, or texted him. And today I saw him killing a guy.

It was difficult for me to move on, and so easy for him. Austin helped me to forget him. He is my childhood friend, and he had feelings for me. I built a relationship with Austin just to forget him, to forget my desires, to forget my liking for b**m, and today he reminded all this in a few seconds. Just with his one glimpse, all the things reminded me of him. The past we shared, the words that lady used on me, the worst memory of mine.

Why did you come back into my life Mason Graves? I hope you forget me and don’t come in front of me, please…
