The Approval

Lilia pov As she stood there, sunlight brushing her cheeks and the echo of Judy’s joy still ringing in her ears, Lilia closed her eyes and let herself feel all the moments. Montelure Heart & Surgical Center (MHSC) It wasn’t just a name or a line on her résumé. It was a door. A threshold. A place where she might finally become the person she had trained so long to be. A place where she could hold a beating heart in her hands and not falter. Where instinct would sharpen into skill, and fear would transform into fuel. Pride swelled in her chest. She gave a happy little jump, unable to stop herself, and laughed quietly under her breath. She was about to head back inside to order another coffee when a strange sensation prickled at the back of her neck. The feeling of being watched. She glanced around. The café’s terrace buzzed with customers enjoying the afternoon sun, nothing out of place except for a sleek, expensive car parked across the street, its windows black-tinted and impenetrable. Lilia frowned slightly but shook it off. Probably nothing. Just another wealthy Montelure resident with somewhere to be. Still smiling, she tucked her phone into her pocket and made her way back inside, the warmth of her excitement far outweighing the lingering unease. Tavien pov The soft hum of the city barely reached Tavien's office, insulated by thick glass and layers of quiet luxury. He leaned back in his chair, a sleek tablet in his hand, Lilia Snow’s information and her residency application open before him. Even among a sea of qualified candidates, she stood out, glowing like a beacon. Impeccable academic scores. Relentless dedication. Letters of recommendation that spoke of her perseverance and passion. Yet it wasn’t just her credentials that stirred something inside him. It was her. He had felt it the moment he first learned her name. A thread connecting her to him. The unseen, undeniable, electric. And now, by some twist of fate, she had applied for residency at his hospital. Montelure Heart & Surgical Center (MHSC) Tavien’s mouth curved into the faintest hint of a smile, something rare and dangerous on his otherwise emotionless face . He set the tablet down and pressed the intercom button on his desk. "Get in here, Aiden." Seconds later, the door swung open and Aiden strode in, efficient as always, an iPad in his hand. "Yes, sir." "I want a meeting arranged at Montelure Hospital tomorrow morning. Nine o'clock sharp," Tavien said, his voice low and decisive. Aiden nodded immediately, making a note. "With the current hospital board?" Tavien’s smile widened by a fraction. "No. With my people. Inform Dr. Marceau that he's stepping down. Have Kray appointed as acting director." Aiden blinked but masked his surprise. "Understood. I'll handle it." Tavien steepled his fingers, his mind already two steps ahead. "And my schedule for today?" Aiden consulted his tablet. "You have virtual meetings lined up throughout the afternoon with logistics reports, new shipments, and two negotiations for weapons contracts. Around 5pm, you're scheduled to visit your parents. They just returned from the Maldives." Tavien exhaled slowly, considering. "Reschedule the virtual meetings. All of them." Aiden hesitated. "Sir, one of the buyers is……" "Postpone it," Tavien said coldly, cutting him off. Understanding flickered in Aiden’s eyes. He was one of the few who could read between Tavien’s sparse words. "And send an immediate acceptance letter to Lilia Snow," Tavien added, his voice dropping lower. "Full residency approval at Montelure. Make it official. Make it...quick." Aiden gave a small nod, fingers moving quickly over the screen. "It’ll be sent within minutes." Tavien allowed a glimmer of satisfaction to cross his features. "Congratulations. Welcome to the future you worked so hard for, little cure." He thoughts. Tavien stood, reaching for his jacket. "I’ll be observing her when she gets the news," he said almost to himself, smoothing the dark fabric over his shoulders. "I want to see her reaction." Aiden hesitated at the strange softness in Tavien’s voice but said nothing. "Yes, sir. She'll be at a café around this time," Aiden added, falling into step behind Tavien as he headed toward the elevator. Tavien pressed the elevator button, glancing briefly over his shoulder.
"Of course she is," he said with a faint smirk. "I make it a point to know where my interests lie." The doors slid open, and without another word, Tavien stepped inside, his mind already several moves ahead. Hours later, Tavien sat behind the tinted windows of his Black Bentley, parked discreetly across from the busy little café. There she was. Lilia Snow. Small, slim, radiant even in the simple light of day. She sat outside on the terrace, phone in hand, the spring sunlight weaving gold through her hair. Tavien didn’t take his eyes off her. Seconds later, he saw her tense, staring down at her screen. A beat passed, and then she leapt up from her seat in a small, joyful jump, her face alight with wonder. A shaky laugh broke from her lips as tears welled in her eyes. She was crying. Tavien’s fingers drummed lightly against the leather seat beside him. His gaze sharpened, taking in every nuance of her reaction the shock, the disbelief, the sheer overflowing happiness. Who are you calling, little cure? he mused, watching her lift the phone to her ear, her hand trembling slightly. A soft smirk ghosted across his mouth. She had no idea what she was stepping into. No idea that with one acceptance letter, she hadn’t just entered Montelure’s halls
She had entered his world. And there was no going back. Tavien watched her, the smirk fading into something colder, deeper. She’s mine now, he thought, the words threading through him like a promise. Not that she knew it. Not yet. But soon. Soon, she'd understand that fate had tied a knot she couldn’t untangle her path, her ambition, her fragile little future, were all intertwined with him now. And Tavien Zeo Rayn never let go of what was his. Never.
