Jared was driving his old Mustang from high school, tooling along Pass-A-Grille beach, windows down, R.E.M. loud on the tape deck, enjoying the sea breeze, downshifting and ripping the engine loud, louder, too loud, and now it was a train, booming and rattling beneath him, the train engine screamed in his ear, huge, tearing through him, he covered his ears, too loud… He woke just as one end of the trailer was lifted and wrenched sideways.
