Mia
I shudder, spur my eyes open and then exhaled softly. Racing was the past but for Cole, I was willing to break my promise.
My fingers had turned cold as I couldn't move.
I didn't even know the race had began until a call came through which I subconsciously answered.
"You can back down Cole if you can't do this, I gat you man" miles muffled but I terminated the call immediately, not ready to listen to anything.
They were best friends and stick to each other like leeches that sometimes they're mistaken to be gays.
I only got to know this much in a week and every secret pictures I try to take of Cole, miles face always shows up.
Unfortunately, I just have to send the pictures to Nicole with the two of their faces.
I can do it. I could feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins, my senses heightens as I join the fray.
I put my car into gear and pull out of the pit lane, merging seamlessly onto the track.
I couldn't breath as all my vision was; a car summersaulting with me in it. A man hitting me and chuckling. My mother covering me up inside a car with tears.
"I-i am nervous and scared" I confessed loudly, trembling behind the wheel as my chest tightens.
I should stop now but I can't.
"Hey, it's okay to be scared, that doesn't make you weak, it's only a driving force that you must succeed"
I smirked and realized I didn't really cut the call.
It's miles again talking in a low, enthralling tone that for a moment, I froze, questioning myself if it's the miles the rumors talks about.
"Feel the moment Cole, fear is a part of us but we can overcome it if we try" he pressed on and my heart was flustered by his speech.
"Follow me Cole, you can do this, just trust yourself"
Somehow, his voice was a guide and I didn't utter a word.
I drove after him, he was the lead and other cars were driving at full speed.
It's quite rough as cars barge on each other just to line up on a single track or overtake the others.
The rush of wind and the rumble of the engine enveloped me and I felt alive, my senses overwhelmed by the sheer exhilaration of speed.
"Please don't stop talking" i whisper, still shivering with fear. His words were now offering comfort and encouragement I needed all this while.
"Okay! I'd treat out today if you beat me to this race and I promise to give you that golden scepter" he said chuckling and then made a cheerful sound.
His voice is lighter than expected and I could imagine those lines coming out from his lips.
Now that's more like it, I'm winning this race for Cole just to get his desires met.
I picked up the speed, my laughter echoed through the car, the world narrowed to a single point.
"And I'm taking you to that stripper club" he grin and my mood changed immediately.
"What! Is your parent aware of this? You little brat!" I yelled and there was silence for while until I heard;
"Who the f**k is in your car Cole!"
I just screwed up, my voice and he must have found out now. I widened my mouth in a silent scream, my breath caught in my throat.
I quickly terminated the call, and while trying to keep control of the wheel, I accidentally barge into the car beside me, causing a huge damage to my opponent's car.
My car tossed around in a swirling circle and then face the track again. I was literally screaming.
For a moment, I lost my breath, grabbed the wheel of my car and began to cry.
Somehow, miles encouraging words linger in my head and I felt the presence.
The track ahead, the rush of speed, and the thrill of competition.
I was ready to give it my all, to push myself and Cole's car to the limit, and to savor every moment of the ride.
I managed to get to the finish line and the car bounced before halting. I rest my head on the headrest, suffocating but the loud cheer outside jerk me back to reality.
Hastily, I jump out of the car, breathing hard and placing my hands on my chest that's about to explode.
"And the winner for this year's racing fair is Cole hills!" The moderator announced through the mic.
My vision was blurry as I felt aches around my body.
I heaved, smiling in my helmet as girls hovered around me like leeches, there were fans who needed my autographs too.
In no time, I was swallowed up by the crowd as cameras were now flooding my face.
Questions were being thrown at me and I was jinxed. Everything was happening fast that I didn't even get a chance to think.
Their cheer was so loud that I was consume by it. All my life, I've never felt this glory, this aura.
Everything I worked for has always been taken from me by others and even now, the name Mia would never be heard.
I tried to search for Cole but he wasn't here except miles! He was glaring at me from behind the crowd before he vanishes.
I could see Cole now, running down the curved stairway at the end of the field.
His jaw dropped at the sight of me.
No one even noticed him as they believe I was the Cole.
I quake, my blood dried up. The coach sneak his way through the crowd, beckoning on me to come take the award but as though I was possessed, I began a race to hide.
I saunter through the crowd with great speed and once I got to an area that was free from people, I began to take off the racing suit.
I was about taking off the pant when a strong hand pulled me to a corner.
My back slam on the wall and my helmet was forcefully pull out. I cough, almost choking and gasping for air when I felt a grip around my neck, worsening the situation I was in.
"You!"
