Max pulled out the map and unrolled it on the floor for all to see. Roanin slid closer and leaned over. He pointed a thick finger at the bottom of the map, then at Basil. “We have half the death stone, the Blood Diamond and the earth stone.” His finger swayed between Max and Milo, then returned to Basil. “Do you know where the other half of the death stone is?”
“My sister has the other half,” said Basil. He leaned forward and pointed at the twins. “She disappeared with their brother.”
Roanin stroked his beard and focused on the map. “The life stone is not showing up,” he muttered. He clicked his teeth, then sighed.
Max studied the map. The Blood Diamond and earth stone were glowing on the spot marked Merrihaven. The death stone was right beside them, but its glow was barely visible.
