6 Max pushed his dinner around his plate. He was too anxious to eat. The twins had gathered enough honey to distract most, if not all, the pixies and now it was a waiting game. He looked around the room at the others. Milo and the Spriggan spoke softly to one another. The twins shoveled food into their mouths and occasionally glanced at the empty chair at the end of the table where Tommy used to sit. Basil sat quietly reading a copy of Birds of Prey, while he waited patiently for everyone to finish. Max pushed his plate away, folded his hands in his lap and stared absentmindedly at Tommy’s chair. Tommy had been gone for far too long. Mr. Scrine and his grandfather had searched the Downs and there was still no sign of him or Birdie anywhere. He shifted in his seat and listened to his aunt
