Lavinia knew there was no way to explain things to Rachel in such a short amount of time, so she just let her friend keep winking and teasing her. On the ride back in Ethan's car, Lavinia remained silent. The car rolled steadily into the night as smooth jazz flowed softly from the speakers. The soothing notes wrapped the atmosphere in a lazy calm, easing Lavinia's tightly wound nerves. Ethan had one hand resting casually on the steering wheel while the other leaned on the windowsill. He seemed to be in a good mood. "Thanks again for tonight," he said, glancing at her with a smile. "I didn't expect you to be a regular at my bar. I hope this little incident didn't ruin your evening." Lavinia, her eyes half-closed, swayed gently to the music. "Don't mention it. It was nothing."
