Chapter 4: When My Bestie's Boyfriend Died

I just stood there staring at Tyler, who quickly turned towards me when he heard me saying, " what are you doing here? " He didn't reply but I could see the fear on his face and rage in his hands.

He didn't say anything, he just stood there staring at me, he suddenly turned back to Jesse and with one quick move he stabbed him on the heart, blood splashed all over the room, once pearl white bedsheets were now b****y red. As I screamed in horror, Tyler just stood there staring at Jesse's now dead body, with his hands covered in Jesse's blood.

He suddenly rushed towards me, I got terrified and when I tried to run I tripped and fell back, hurting my head on the wall. He just came closer to me and bent down, he saw my eyes filled with fear, he came closer to my ears and whispered, " Don't tell anyone anything, go back down. meet me at the end of Richard Street at 7 pm tomorrow. LISTEN TO THE TEXTS "

He got up with the knife dripping from Jesse's blood on his hand and turned back and just walked away as nothing happened.

I just sat there, not being able to move a single limb and just staring at the room, which was filled with blood and Jesse's dead body on the bed and my mind wondering what I just witnessed.

I suddenly felt a vibration in my back pocket, I reached out to my back pocket with my right hand and took my phone out to find a text notification from an unknown number.

I was petrified, I didn't know if I should open the text or not, then something struck me, Tyler's word, "LISTEN TO THE TEXTS ". I opened my text, my hands shaking and with my eyes full of fear and mind full of questions. I opened the text, and it said," Hope you liked the little show I put up for you "

I was agitated, I didn't know what I was supposed to do, I texted back, " who are you? what do you want from me" I just sat there, not knowing what I was about to face.

I received another text saying, " a foe "

I sat there, just staring at my phone with a blinking cursor not knowing what to say to this anonymous texter nor knowing what to do next.

Suddenly I heard people coming, I just got up and ran to find the exit, I suddenly found a white door with words, "WARD" written on it, in front of me, I knew this wasn't the door I came through but I decided to push it as I heard people coming and could feel them getting closer.

Just as I pushed the door, I again found myself face to face with that teenage boy who asked me to go.

I looked around and I found myself standing in the middle of a corridor, with white doors, white walls, white floors, everything was white.

I held him by his shoulders asking him questions

"What is happening "

"Where am I "

"Who is that texter "

"Why did Jesse have to die ?!"

He just stood there in silence not replying to any of my questions, then he smiled and whispered," My work is done ." He turned back and walked away into the never-ending corridors.

I just stood there numb, not knowing what to do and staring at him grow smaller and smaller by distance.

Reality struck me, I forgot about Betty who was with Dr. Phoebe in her office.

I turned back and opened the white door I came through and started walking towards the elevator, as I was walking, I came across room number 34, the room where Jesse was brutally murdered by Tyler. To my surprise, the room was clean now and I couldn't see Jesse's body anywhere, there were no bloodstains anywhere. The room seemed like no one was there before.

The color on my face drained, I couldn't believe what I saw.

I just started to rush towards the elevator in fear and smashed the first-floor button.

I got out of the elevator and made my way to Dr. Phoebe's office and as I pushed the door I saw that Betty's social worker was in the room with Betty and Phoebe.

Betty turned back and asked, "Where have you been? "

"Ummm, I went to the restroom, the food last night didn't settle well," I said in a shaky voice.

Betty turned back to her social worker and asked if she could talk to Me alone and excused herself out of the room. She got up and held me by my wrist and pulled me out to the corridor as Phoebe and her social worker was talking inside.

"Why did you get me out here ?!"

"Have you seen your face; you look like you committed a murder "

"What, I didn't it was Tyler?! " I shouted.

"What, where did Tyler come from now, stop blabbering. "

I just stood there in Silence and fright.

Betty told, " I told the doctor everything, including my life at home, and then she called my social worker. "

"Really? what are they going to do now, are they going to talk to your mom? "

"Yeah, my mom didn't pick up, I am not surprised. They want me to relocate to my aunt's house. "

"What, you can't go there, she lives across the country "

As I told these words, I also knew that she should shift there, even though I won't be able to she here often again.

We just stood there in silence.

then I told, "You should shift there " with tears in my eyes.

She saw me crying and told, " Don't worry, I will defiantly come and visit you, you cant get rid of me even though you want to you know. "

We both hugged each other with tears, knowing that we won't be able to see each other often again.

She pulled back and told, " We should go in. "

I wiped my tears and told yes.

As we both entered the room, Betty's social worker Haley had just gotten off the phone with her aunt.

Haley told, " I spoke with your aunt and she is more than happy to take you in, and I will arrange a school for your thereby spring break, till spring break we will find you a hostel to stay. "

I shouted out, "She can stay with me till then" without thinking.

Betty looked at me with shock.

"Yes, she can stay with me till spring break," I told reassuring her.

Then Haley spoke up, " Then that is settled, I will get back to you soon," she told and walked out of the room.

As we turned to look back and Dr. Phoebe, she told us not to worry about Jesse and that she will take care of it.

My face changed as soon as she told Jesse's name.

"Is everything fine dear?" she asked.

She suddenly got an emergency call and rushed out of the room without saying a word.

We were alone in her office staring at each other, I just stood there wondering if I should tell her about Jesse's death or no.

Betty told, "We should get out of here, what about the park down the street ?"

As we were walking, she saw that I was feeling uncomfortable and asked if everything was fine. As I was about to reply, saying that I was fine, she got a phone call, she excused herself and picked it up. It was our school manager calling her.

"Hello, is this Betty Cooper?"

"Yes, and this is? "

"I am the school manager speaking and wanted to inform you that the new cheerleading team list is not yet given to us and we would be needing it before tonight. "

"Oh, we are so sorry for the delay we will come and leave it in your office tonight "

"thank you "

She cuts the phone.

"We need to get to the school now, why didn't she call you Lis? "

I pulled out my phone to check if I got a missed call, it was dead.

"My phone died, I must have forgotten to charge it last night," I told her.

We both decided to get a cab to get to school to submit the cheerleading list.

As we get into the cab, Betty's aunt calls, she sat in the cab talking to her and answering questions about her mother's presence at home. I just sat there staring at the trees passing by and wondering if I should go meet Tyler tomorrow and if I should tell Betty about Jesse, with a chill face and a frightened heart, I just sat there. All I knew was that I had put on a fake smile and walk around like nothing ever happened.
