Chapter 16
“Welcome Kirisitofa”, Kazeem said again as he ushered him under one of the trees. It was late in the evening and the shows had ended.
“Meet your new family”, he said enough for everyone else to hear. He pointed to a muscular man.
“This is Erin, the Elephant. No one can last five minutes in a fight with him.”
“We will know for sure”, Chris said smiling up at Erin. Even at twenty years, Chris was taller than most people around him, this man towered over him. He grabbed Chris and lifted him off his feet until they were eye-to-eye. Erin had a small bald head. Only his thick black beard hinted at the fierce being he was. He pulled Chris to himself abruptly into a rib-crushing hug.
