Chapter two

Very early the next morning the doctor came to check on Mmachi and her baby.

Good morning doctor, she greeted. Good morning Mmachi, how are you feeling today? Am much better, thank you; mmmh!!(....) Beautiful baby girl how are today, the doctor said to Mmachi's baby smiling.

## He ran some test on her and told her grandmother that she's fit to go. Thank you doctor Nneora said, they started parking their bag as soon as the doctor left for his office.

Back home people were already waiting for Nneora and her granddaughter, she's very happy about the birth of her great grand-daughter. Though she came unexpectedly, she still appreciates God for his great work in her family.

They were welcomed warmly by neighbours and relations, Mmachi's childhood friend Cherish was not left out from the home coming party. She wasn't among the wagging tongues that were spreading false rumours about Mmachi's predicament. Cherish is the only daughter of chief Douglas, one of the richest men in their town. She's a well groomed girl who did not allow her father's wealth to influence her in a negative way. She is so close to Mmachi that people refers to them as sisters, the bond between them are more than ordinary friendship. she has always been there for Mmachi during her trying period, supporting her with both cash and other material things.

She was so happy to see her friend and the new baby, am now the newest aunty she said amusingly. She helped Mmachi and her grandma to unpack their bag and put things in order. Nneora went in to get the food and drinks that was meant for the celebration, Cherish helped her to serve the guests. a special food (specially prepared yam porridge)that was meant for new nursing mothers was prepared for Mmachi. She was so happy to see that her relatives were by her side, most especially her childhood friend Cherish. Cherish is seen asking her questions about her health and what she needs, she was willing to do anything for her. At dusk everybody retired to their homes, Cherish took permission from her dad to spend the night with her friend so she stayed behind to help put things in order.
