CHAPTER FIVE Deputy Mary Hicks walked around the bloody scene, stringing up yellow police tape. It was a gruesome site and the smell was bad enough, but the flies. She couldn't stand the sight of the flies swarming around the corpse. Deputy Rick Colson stood rubbing Vaseline under his nose. “Better call the Sheriff.” He put the tube of Vaseline back in his pocket. Mary nodded, grateful for a reason to walk away. Tom's phone rang.
