Chapter nineteen - Christmas time

2094 Words
Melanie's POV: It's almost Christmas. Jordan and I gave free candy canes with every order. This attracted more customers. We couldn't open the third shop. We have some work to do. Both of us are officially retired from the other two. Cassie is working with her cousin. They understand each other well. Dylan and Josh are together. I should say that our best friend is feeling better. He went back home two days ago. I don't know what Chelsea did, but she convinced him to return. I think they are taking things slowly. It's better than nothing. Maybe their happy ending will come soon. Natalie told me that she and Noah try to leave them alone more often. They want to give our friends more time to talk. After all, they don't need to share everything with us. This is something personal. Katy keeps updating us with pictures of her belly. The baby is growing so much. I can't wait to see it. She and Jason will be great parents. I asked her for a name, but there was no answer. They have a long time to decide. What we know is that it will be a girl. She will be the cutest baby in the world. Probably every mother says this about her kid. Jordan and I have talked about this. We already have three kids. I mean, the coffee shops are more than enough for us. Kids don't fit in the picture for now. We don't have time for them. I hope that Katy's baby will be born healthy. It's Christmas. I waited for this for so long. The plan is simple. Jordan and I will have lunch with our parents. We decided to spend New Year with our friends. Let's say that we don't have time for everyone. Also, we need to rest. We started working a lot in the new shop. Let's say we plan to open it after New Year. Hopefully, this will be possible. A few things have left us. Well, everything takes time. It might seem easy, but it's not. Our friends and family have offered us help, but we denied it. We want to do this alone. I woke up and checked the time. It's too early to get up. I turned around to see Jordan. I thought only boys slept cute. I guess I was wrong. Call me a creep, but I can stare at him all day. I kissed his cheek and snuggled. This will always be one of my favorite things today. After some time, I felt something in my hair. It looks like I have fallen asleep. Soon, I received a kiss on the top of my head. I want to lay like that all day. Nothing can replace this feeling. - Good morning. - I said - To you, too. I see my favorite smile is back. - It will always be back for you. - It's good to know it. What is the plan for today? - Laying down. - We have to go for lunch with our parents. - Can't they have it without us? - I'm sorry, but no. They will be waiting for us. - Fine. I still want to lay for a while. We don't need to rush. - I don't mind. As long as you are here, I'm fine. - Great. How about breakfast? We can eat it here. - Yes, but who will make it? As I can see, you will lay all the time. - he said, chuckling - We can make it together and come back to eat it here. - You will clean the bed of all the crumbs. - Fine. We'll eat later. - Better. - Why do you have to be like that? - Like what? - Annoying. - Me or you? - You. I am perfect. - Of course, you are. No one can beat you. - See? - I was joking. - Rude. - I need to rethink why I married you. - Because you love and can't live without me. I'm irreplaceable for you. - Sad, but true. - Hey! - It was a joke. I will always love you. - he said and kissed me - Better. - What do you want us to eat? - I don't know. I want to save some space for the lunch. Our moms make heaven in the kitchen. - I said, and he laughed - I have no idea. They didn't tell me anything. - We'll find out when we go there. - That is true. - he said and pulled me close - What? - Nothing. - There is something. Otherwise, you won't stare at me. - No, I only want to admire the view. - Keep checking me out. When I get old, your eyes will be on someone else. - You wish. We'll get older together. - You will be first for sure. - I said, chuckling - Very funny. We stayed in bed for half an hour. My stomach was saying its word. I had to go and eat something. Both of us ate two sandwiches each with a cup of hot chocolate. Sometimes, we make angel wing shots at home. Well, not in such a small cup. The alcohol amount is the same. We don't like drinking alcohol. Let's say it's not our thing. After some time, we got ready and walked to my parent's house. Mom wanted the lunch to be at home. We walked in, and the smell hit me. I want to eat whatever this is. - It smells so good. - Your mom woke up early to start cooking. - dad said - I can tell. Where should we leave this? - Put it under the tree. - There is some food. Here, take this. - I said and gave him the bag - You two are here. - miss Blakes said - Yes. - Hi, mom. How are you? - Good. Look who is here. - she said, and we laughed - Let's sit at the table. Your mom and I will be done soon. - Do you need help? - No, thanks. - Hey, kids. - Hi, dad. - How is Dylan? Is he still living with you? - No, he went home. I think he feels better. Should we call him? - No, don't do it. He said he would visit his parents. I don't know when he went. - Jordan said - In that case, we can call him tomorrow. - That works. - Did he go alone or with her? - I think alone. He didn't say anything about her. It's not like I asked. - It's his decision. - True. - I'm sure he will be fine. Everyone has their moments. - mister Blakes said - I hope it's temporary. - I said - It is. Soon, everyone was around the table. I had breakfast, but everything was so delicious. Our parents were talking. I was busy eating. I need to come home more often. Maybe I can make my mom cook and send me food. It's a joke. Jordan and I can cook. We made a small cake before we left. After all, there should be something homemade. They offered us alcohol, but we denied it. Well, there is a surprise. Jordan and I went to prepare some angel wing shots. - This is for you. - Is this what I think it is? - mister Blakes asked - Try it and you will see. - You need to tell us how you make it. - I'm sorry. It's a business secret. Otherwise, we won't win anything from it. - It's tasty. I think you should've put more alcohol. - If you don't like it, don't drink it. - I didn't say that. - How is the third shop going? When will you open it? - mom asked - Hopefully, it will be soon. We are still working on it. - We offered you help. - dad said - I know, but we can deal with this alone. Thanks. - How do you deal with her? - he asked, looking at Jordan - Easy. I know her weak spot. - This is good. You can control her. - Oh, no. She does it. - You left a woman to control you? What type of men are you? - The one who doesn't want to get in trouble. - he said, and I laughed - I didn't say you have to do everything I say. If you want to sleep with me, this is the rule. Otherwise, you can take the guest room. Dylan is gone now. - See? - I'm kidding. We understand each other well. - The wedding was perfect. I don't know how you did it alone. - mom said - With my hands. Some things we did alone. We wanted to save some money. - We could've given you some. - dad said - Dad, we have enough. Maybe more than you. The thing is that I didn't want to give all of them for the wedding. - You can count on us for everything. - Thanks. It's good to know. We stayed with our parents in the afternoon. They gave us food to take home. We have enough, but I won't deny eating more of the delicious meal. The presents they gave us were good. We planned to buy some of the things ourselves. They saved us money. Jordan and I decided not to get each other anything. I'm sure we failed. I bought him a few things. It's hard when I know he has everything. The same is true for me. We used to spoil each other a lot. At least this stopped. Well, for now. - Presents time. - I said - I thought we wouldn't buy anything. - I know you got me something. - Yes. How can't I? - See? I'm first. This is for you. - Let me see. There are a few things. - I didn't know what to give you. - Is this a keychain with an angel wing? - Yes. The other half is for me. See? - Matching ones. I like that. Next, we have a big box. What is this? - It's a digital photo frame. You can stare at me as long as you want. - I still love the wedding dress. Thank you. This is good. - There is one more. - Really? - Yes. - This is a pajama? - Yes. The ones you have are old. - Great. One more thing you can steal. - he said, chuckling - I won't do that. Only when you are gone. - It's the same thing. Ok, open mine. - Let me see. I have a few things as well. - Yes, you do. - Is this an angel wing necklace? - Yes. Half of it. The other one is in me. - I guess we went for the same idea. - I said, chuckling - Yes. We know each other. - What is that? A t-shirt? - Read it. - My favorite angel. - You can wear it when we walk out. I would love for people to know that you are mine. - he said, and I laughed - For sure. I won't take it off. Thanks. - One more thing. - More? - Yes. - Is this underwear? - I saw you looking at it at one store. - Do you know how much it costs? - So? Can't I spoil you? - Yes, but that is too much. This is why I didn't buy it. - Well, I did it. Hopefully, it's the right size. - It is. Thank you. - You can try it on. - he said, and I laughed - I'll put it on for you. - Thanks. I can't believe that he bought me this. I didn't get it because it was almost two hundred dollars. It's not like I don't have money, but I don't want to give them two pieces of clothes. I didn't think he saw that. He knows me more than anyone else. I should say we did well with the gifts. I liked everything he got me. I don't think someone else can beat that. Mostly, it's because we spent time together through the years. We know what we like. This is why choosing presents for me wasn't that hard. It should've been something he would wear. I hope that he will use everything.
