I can't believe this. How have I already shifted? I'm only 14. I think to myself as I'm looking at my wolf. And she is beautiful. She's snow white. And my eyes are crazy. I've never seen a wolf with glowing green eyes. But then again I haven't seen many wolves.
I remember my dad. He was a brown wolf though. And I don't remember him being so big. I was almost twice the size of Lily now that I think about it. No wonder she ran.
"Hi Jamie." I hear in my head. "Are you my wolf?" I answer. "My name is Jade." The voice answers. "That's my name too." I say. "No, your Jaime." She says confused. "Jamie? Is that my real name?" I ask. "That's your born name. But you've always gone by Marie." She answers confidently.
"How do you know that?" I ask. "I know everything about you. I've watched you from the day you were born." She answers. "How?" I ask her still admiring my reflection. "How about we try and find shelter and I'll tell you all about it along the way." She answers. She is right. I am super tired and I cant just sleep out her in the open. I'm not far enough away yet. So I start to follow the river. As I go I cant help but look back at my reflection every so often. And I stop when I notice a green star on my upper hind leg. Pretty much where my thigh would be if I was in human form. "What is that mark?" I ask.
"That's a power mark." Jade answers. "What is a power mark?" I ask. "You are special Jamie. Like your grandmother. It is a mark showing how powerful you will grow to be. Your mate will also have the mark. When you find your missing piece you'll be ready to do what needs to be done." I stop in my tracks. "And what exactly is that?" I ask her. "We wont worry about that yet. You wont find your mate for over a year. Not until your sixteen."
I admire myself for a little more then continue to look for shelter. "So, you said that you've been watching me?" I ask Jade. "See when we are waiting to come down to our person we are up above with the moon goddess. I have known I was going to be your wolf since you were born. The moon goddess, Dex, and I would all sit around the viewing pond and watch you." Jade says and that perks me up.
"You know Dex?" I ask. "Of course I do. Selena would tell us how important you were and that when you needed me she would let me come to you." Jade answered. "Well, that makes me feel a bit better. I wasn't positive he was real. Who's Selena?" I ask her. "The moon goddess of coarse. Anyways, since I came to you early I will need to rest for awhile everytime I come out like now. So you might not hear from me for a few days. But I'm there. I can see what you see. And I can hear your thoughts. I'm only supposed to show myself when absolutely nessasary." She says. "So why did you come now? Why not when I was with my uncles?" I ask her.
"We knew you could handle those guys. But when Selena saw Lily she knew she wasn't messing around. She would have killed you if I didn't show up." "But what have I ever done to her. I don't understand why she was so angry." I admit.
"Charlie shows you too much attention. He is the future alpha. She wants to be his mate. She wants power. And she thinks you were standing in her way." I shake my head. "That is so stupid. I mean yeah he kissed me and it was amazing. But we are friends." I say.
Just then I notice a little water fall and decide to see if there is a crevice behind it to get some rest. I walk through the water and see a small cave. "This will work." Jade says. "This may hurt a little. I'm going to shift back. I promise the more we shift it will stop hurting. And I promised the moon goddess that I would only allow the shift when necessary until you become of age. So it may take awhile." She explains.
I take a deep breath and close my eyes. "Ok. I'm ready." I say. "Already done." Jade says and I open my eyes and look down. "Wow. That didn't hurt at all." I say shocked. I hear Jade yawn. "We need to get some rest. We are going to have a long journey ahead of us. I need to get my energy back up. Remember if you don't hear from me I'm still here. That took a lot out of me. I don't know how long it will take me to regain all my energy." She says.
"It's alright. I think I can manage now. Good night Jade." I say. I can feel her sink deeper into my mind.
I sit down in the corner. I notice that I'm not as cold as I usually am. That must be because I have my wolf now. My healing has always been fast like a wolf. And my hearing has always been excellent but this is new. I like it. I pull out a new outfit and change quickly. I put on clean dry clothes and lay down. I pull out my notebook and start to look through the pages. I smile when I come across the drawing of Charlie.
I can't believe Lily is jealous of me. I mean, yeah, Charlie makes me feel special. And I always wondered why he was always so nice to me. Maybe he was just nice because he is the future Alpha. Deep inside I hope it was more but now I just don't know. Jade said I'll find my mate when I become of age. So obviously it wasn't Charlie. I already met him.
My smile fades as I think of this. I should be happy knowing that I will soon find my mate. But I'm actually a bit upset. I was really developing feelings for Charlie. Deep down I hopes it was him. But I guess I was wrong again.
I put the notebook down and close my eyes. I drift off to sleep quickly. I don't know how long I've been sleeping but I am completely discombobulated when I'm awoken by a loud sorrow felt howl.
