Chapter 7

1273 Words
I shake my head to clear the sleepiness. I feel like I've been sleeping for days. I don't know if that's even possible but I heard that after your first shift it's normal to sleep up to three days. So I have no idea how long I've been here or if my uncles have been searching for me. Crap. I think when I hear another howl and it sounds like it's getting closer. I scoot back towards the back of the cave as far as I can. From what I do know about wolves the water should have washed away my scent. So they won't be able to smell me. I listen closely and can hear footsteps coming fast. I hold my breath as to not be discovered. What if it's Lily coming back again. The foot steps suddenly stop not far away and I can hear a heart beating fast. And for some reason I can't explain I'm being drawn to the edge of the cave. I want to see who is there. I have an urge to go to whoever it is. I shake my head. What am I thinking? I step back, realizing that I'm almost through the waterfall. I just don't know what is wrong with me. I am not this reckless. I hear whimpering and before I know it I'm slowly sticking my head through the waterfall. I look to the left and don't see anything. I then look towards the right and see the a pure white wolf stepping into the bushes. I gasp and step back into the cave. That was so close. What was I thinking. I wonder who that was. Jade was the first white wolf I've ever seen and now here's another one. Then suddenly I'm hit with a scent that was both familiar and scared me. A vampire. I shrink back against the cave wall and hold my breath again. The scent seems oddly familiar and welcoming. But then again it's a vampire. The only vampires I have seen in years are the ones who come see my uncles. And I don't want to see any of them. It terrifies me that my uncles might already have others out searching for me. But if that was the case then why did he or she come after the white wolf. Jade said I was special. Maybe this wolf is too and that's why they are following him. I should warn the wolf. I wait until I can barely smell the vampire. I decide to leave my bag in the cave just in case so I know the only belongings I have left in this world are safe. If something happens I can come back for them later. I do grab my bag of cash though. I don't want anything to happen to that. I find a small crevice and stick the bag inside. Then I grab a rock that fits almost perfectly into it so that my bag is completely hidden. I slowly step out from behind the waterfall on the opposite side of the river from which I came. That's the direction the vampire and wolf went. I slowly walk in the direction of the scents and I keep my eyes and ears open. My heart is beating fast. I've never been so careless in all my life. But I just have a feeling that that wolf is special and it needs to be warned. I come to a fork in the path I'm on. I stop and smell the air. The vampire went left. The wolf went right. I contemplate which way to go. I can go right and warn the wolf or I can go left and see what the vampire is doing. I look around to try and figure out which direction I'm headed and where I am. I look up to the sky. I don't know exactly what time it is but by the position of the sun in the sky it looks to be around four o'clock in the afternoon. And it looks like the vampire is headed north towards wolf pack. Which means the wolf is headed away from the pack. That's strange. Why would a vampire be headed straight for a pack of werewolves. He must have a death wish. That makes my decision easier. The pack will take care of the vampire. So I turn right and head after the wolf. I only take a few steps when I stop. My heart is pulling my in the opposite direction. My head is saying to go after the wolf. In my head this wolf has to be special. That I need to warn it. But it's also saying that the wolf was upset and for some reason I want to comfort it. But my heart is telling me that there is something about that vampire. I know deep in my heart that I know that vampire. The scent was so familiar. Like a long forgotten smell that I forgot until I smelled it again. As I think about the scent I gasp at the memory that pops in my head. *Eleven years ago* I'm running around a room filled with toys. I crawl under the bed that's in the corner. "Fifteen, Sixteen." I hear counting from far off. I start to giggle. I crawl out from under the bed and run to the closet instead. I almost close the door. Leaving a small c***k for me to see through. "Ready or not here I come." I hear a male say. He will never find me in here. I think to myself and giggle again. I watch as he enters the room. "Where are you?" He says in a playful tone. I cover my mouth so I don't laugh and give away my hiding spot as I watch him kneel to the ground and look under the bed. I watch him as he circles the room looking under the table. The behind the curtains. He even picks up a big teddy bear and looks under it. "Tell me Mr Teddy. Do you know where my niece is? She's really good at hide and seek. I don't know if I'll ever find her." He says to the teddy bear and I cant help but giggle. "Did you hear that teddy? There's something in he closet." He says and puts the teddy bear down and walks towards the closet. "Come out, come out where ever you are." He says almost like a song. He steps towards the closet and I sink back further into the closet and hide behind some clothes that are hanging. The door swings open and he has a disappointed look on his face. "There's nobody in here." He says "Unless." Then suddenly the clothes are separated and he quickly picks me up in his arms and starts tickling me. I laugh so hard. He stops and I wrap my arms around his neck as he starts to carry me out of the toy room. "I found her Siri." He hollers and looks at me. "Don't give your mom a hard time okay. You guys will come back soon. And when you do we will go to the lake." He says to me. "Yay." I say excited. "Alright." He says putting me down. "Your mom's waiting at the door. Behave princess. Love you." I start to run down the hall towards the front door. And over my shoulder I holer back. "I love you too Uncle Arc." My jaw drops and there's a tear I my eye. "Oh my goddess. The vampire is Uncle Arc."
