Damian arrived at the warehouse alone.
The building was silent.
Too silent.
“Marcus!”
His voice echoed.
“Let her go.”
Marcus appeared on the balcony.
“Put the ledger on the floor.”
Damian did.
“Now Amelia.”
Marcus smiled.
Amelia was brought into the room.
The moment she saw Damian, tears filled her eyes.
“Damian!”
“Are you hurt?”
“No.”
Marcus walked toward the ledger.
He picked it up.
“You should have stayed away.”
Damian stepped forward.
“You have what you wanted.”
Marcus smiled.
“Not everything.”
Suddenly, the police surrounded the warehouse.
Marcus looked shocked.
Damian smiled slightly.
“You really thought I'd come here without telling anyone?”
Marcus grabbed Amelia.
A police officer shouted,
“Let her go!”
Marcus hesitated.
Amelia elbowed him and broke free.
Damian rushed toward her.
He pulled her into his arms.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes.”
The police arrested Marcus.
As they walked outside, Amelia looked at Damian.
“You came.”
“Of course.”
“You could have been killed.”
“I told you.”
“What?”
“I can't live without you.”
She smiled through her tears.
But before they could leave, an officer approached Damian.
“Mr. Cross.”
“Yes?”
“We found something in Marcus's office.”
“What?”
“A document.”
The officer handed it to him.
Damian read it.
His expression changed.
Amelia looked at him.
“What is it?”
He slowly raised his eyes.
“Marcus wasn't working alone.”
