Chapter 37 — The Final Meeting

Sophie led them to an old estate outside the city. The gates opened automatically. Damian looked around. “This place belongs to Morgan.” Sophie nodded. They entered carefully. A voice echoed through the hallway. “Welcome.” Daniel Morgan stepped out. He was older now, but his eyes were sharp. Amelia stared at him. “You destroyed our families.” Morgan smiled. “I created opportunities.” “You kidnapped my sister.” “I protected her.” “You lied to everyone.” “Yes.” Damian stepped forward. “You're going to prison.” Morgan laughed. “Do you really think you have enough evidence?” Damian held up the USB drive. “I think we do.” Morgan's smile disappeared. “You found that?” “Yes.” Morgan became angry. “You don't understand what your families did.” Amelia stepped forward. “Then tell us.” Morgan looked at her. “Your grandfather stole my company.” “That isn't true.” “He used your father's company to destroy me.” “Then why involve innocent people?” Morgan looked away. “Because power is never innocent.” Damian shook his head. “You ruined lives.” Morgan smiled. “And yet, you still married her.” He pointed at Amelia. “That was the final piece.” Damian's expression hardened. “You manipulated the contract.” “Yes.” “But you failed.” Morgan laughed. “Did I?” Suddenly, the doors locked. The lights went out. Sophie grabbed Amelia's hand. “What's happening?” Damian pulled them toward the exit. But Morgan was already gone. Then they heard a countdown. Ten. Damian looked around. “Nine.” “Move!” They rushed toward the emergency exit. Eight. The door opened. They escaped the building. Seconds later, an explosion shook the estate. Amelia looked at Damian. “He's gone.” Damian stared at the burning building. “No.” “He escaped.” Damian nodded. “And now he's coming after us.”
