Despite the threats, Amelia refused to stop the foundation.
She organized the first community event herself.
Families arrived throughout the morning.
Children played in the garden.
Volunteers distributed food and school supplies.
Damian watched Amelia from a distance.
His security chief approached him.
“You're smiling.”
Damian looked surprised.
“Am I?”
“Yes.”
Damian looked toward Amelia.
“She makes it easy.”
Suddenly, a young boy approached him.
“Are you Mr. Cross?”
“Yes.”
“My mother says you're helping us.”
Damian knelt.
“We're all helping each other.”
The boy smiled.
“Thank you.”
Damian watched him run away.
Amelia joined him.
“You're good with children.”
“Don't start.”
She laughed.
Then the foundation director approached.
“Mrs. Cross, someone wants to speak with you.”
“Who?”
“A journalist.”
Amelia followed her.
The journalist introduced herself.
“My name is Grace.”
“What can I do for you?”
“I want to investigate the accusations against your husband.”
Amelia remained calm.
“You're free to investigate.”
Grace looked surprised.
“You aren't afraid?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because the truth will protect us.”
Grace smiled.
“That is exactly what I wanted to hear.”
She handed Amelia a card.
“If you ever discover something unusual, call me.”
After Grace left, Damian approached.
“Who was that?”
“A journalist.”
“Should I worry?”
“No.”
Amelia smiled.
“I trust you.”
Damian smiled back.
But across the street, someone was watching them through a camera.
