The day after my closing statement I’m basking in the aftermath of my success. That feeling of security and strength that victory gives you.
I still remember my first call for acquittal. I was a trainee lawyer and the hearing was for a personal injury case. I spent all night studying and notched up a brilliant acquittal for self-defence.
Since that day I’ve donned my gown many more times.
In the morning, as I don't have any hearings, I go for an hour-long running session with Lucky, my little Brittany dog.
Instead, in the afternoon, as usual, I go to the office with all the calm in the world, in the absence of any appointments. I decide to go in early, because of the chaotic and unpredictable Neapolitan traffic.
