Chapter 7
The morning sunlight felt wrong. Too bright, too innocent, for a world like Luca Moretti’s. Raina walked silently behind him through the estate’s grand halls, her stomach still churning from the choice she had made the night before.
Married. Not by love. Not by choice. But by sheer survival.
Luca led her to a room she hadn’t seen before—a mixture of luxury and strategy. Maps, weapons, and surveillance screens covered the walls. Guards moved silently in the background. It was a war room disguised as an office, and for the first time, Raina understood the magnitude of the world she had entered.
“You need to learn quickly,” Luca said, voice calm but commanding. “This is my life. My empire. And now… it’s your life too.”
Raina swallowed, glancing at the screens. Streets, alleyways, warehouses—everything she had once considered normal was now under his control. Every person she had ever trusted could be a pawn in his world.
A sudden alert flashed on one of the screens. Red letters: INTRUDER DETECTED.
Before she could ask, Luca moved like lightning, hand on the pistol at his hip. “Stay here,” he commanded, then disappeared down the hall.
Raina’s heart pounded. Part of her wanted to run, but she knew better. Running was meaningless. She was already deep inside his world, and every move she made was watched.
Minutes passed. Then, gunfire. Loud, echoing, terrifying. Raina pressed herself against the wall, hands over her ears, shaking. She had survived a murder, captivity, and now she was witnessing violence unfold in real time inside the man she had married.
Then he returned, calm, collected, deadly as ever. One of the intruders lay unconscious in the hallway; Luca’s presence alone had ended the threat. His eyes swept over Raina.
“You see?” he said, voice low. “Life in my world is unpredictable. Dangerous. You must stay alert, aware, and always… obedient. One mistake could cost you everything.”
Raina’s chest tightened. Fear, awe, and something else—something dangerous—stirred inside her. She wanted to run, scream, hide. But she also couldn’t ignore the pull she felt toward him, that magnetic force of danger and power.
Luca stepped closer, his gaze sharp, assessing, unyielding. “This is only the beginning,” he said. “You are mine now, Raina. And whether you like it or not… you will survive. But survival alone is not enough. You must learn… quickly.”
Raina nodded, trembling. She had chosen life. She had chosen him. But living in Luca Moretti’s world was more dangerous than she could have imagined, and she realized with a sinking certainty: every day would be a battle, every moment a test.
And somewhere deep inside, she knew that this dangerous, forbidden world would change her forever.
