Cake. Mom and I.D

"Food is meant to be shared." she heard a familiar voice not so far from her. "Mom!" Chin exclaimed. "Why are you still awake, my child," Her mother asked. " I thought you were tired, so you excused yourself and left. Have you slept just yet? Asks her mother. " No Mom, not a single wink. I don't know but I can't seem to find sleep yet." Chin said. " Is something bothering you?, you know you can tell me anything." says her mom. "Is it about school? or homework? or friends and classmates? a teacher maybe? is it about a boy? the one that you met at the party? " asks Mom. Chin knew that her mom was teasing her. " Are we talking about Lei? I am sorry mom, but no. it's not about him. To be honest, I kinda know him . He goes to my school, so basically, we're school mates. But i just can't remember if he is in one of my classes. Actually, I just met him just this morning before the party, through a series of unfortunate events." Chin said to her Mom. " And Mom, there is something I wish to tell you, Mom." says Chin. " Ok, I'm listening." says Mom. "Earlier today, we had a reading project. A poem reading, to be exact. My teacher asked me if I could audition for Theater Arts. I turned them down because I know that you don't want me to be participating in those kinds of extra-curricular activities. But Mom, I knew in my heart that I really would like to participate. Please Mom, give me your blessing." says Chin. " My child, I am glad that you have finally found your passion and, how I wish that you could nurture them. But you see, in the world that we live in, we should not consider things like that. We should avoid the crowd, Chin. It is for your own good," says mom. " But I don't understand why? Ever since I was little, you have made me avoid the crowd. I don't get to mingle with other kids. You won't let me play with them. You don't let me attend recitals and concerts, or even field demonstrations. Anything which involves other crowds aside from us is not allowed. I am just lucky that I was able to go to school with regular students. Somehow, i get to feel that I belong. You keep on saying that that's for your own safety. But why are you keeping me safe? I know I am your child, but this is too much. Pleaase Mom, enlighten me." pleaded Chin. "Oh my dear Chin, I wish I could tell you, but today is not the right time. Someday, you will understand why we need to do this. This is all for you. We just wanted you to be safe and live a normal life. I promise I will tell you someday. "Come on, let's eat the cake. Then you can go back to sleep. Please try to rest. You still have your classes tomorrow, says Mom. "Ok mom," Chin said while taking her last bite. "I am done. Goodnight Mom" says Chin. " Good night Chin, I love you always, " her mother said, gently hugging her and kissing her forehead.

As Chin slowly went back to her room, she could feel the emptiness inside her. Yes, she could be the wealthiest girl in school, but she is poor when it comes to her parents' attention. She can't even follow her own dreams. Everything was pre-determined for her. Don't get her wrong. She loves her parents so much that she is willing to give up everything for them. But sometimes, she just needs to be her own person. But how can she do that? She doesn't want to cause trouble for her parents. As she lay in bed, she couldn't help but feel the pain. Then she just realized that tears rolled down in her eyes.

Chin's alarm clock went off at 6;00 am as she needed to be at school at 7.30. Considering the long line of students that would be entering the school, it would be just another hectic day for Mr. Chan. So Chin decided to wake up early so that she could come to school earlier. She woke up, fixed her bed and started running the water for her morning bath. After her bath, she wore her uniform. And having used her extra clothes from her locker, she decided to bring some more extra uniforms. "Who knows what will happen next," murmured Chin. She brushed her long, black hair, put a ribbon on her ponytail and went out of her room. Before going straight to the kitchen, she wanted to go to her parents' room to say good morning, but even before she could go near her parent's room, Nanny Thess called her and said, "Don't bother, they are not there anymore." she said calmly. "Oh, what time did they left? asked Chin. " The usual, very early in the morning. And don't ask me where they went. I don't keep track of their schedules," she said. "Come, you eat breakfast before you are late for school," she said. Chin just walked in the dining area quietly and ate her breakfast. Bid goodbye to Nanny Thess and went off to see her driver. Nanny Thess pulled her close before riding her car. 'Follow your dreams my child, the best is yet to come. " she said. Chin didn't expect her Nanny to give her words of encouragement. She is determined to follow her dreams, but at the back of her head, she is still questioning herself on what to do. Preoccupied with that thought, she haven't realized that she is now at school. She is looking for her ID/Beep card so that she can enter the school premises and she didn't realize that she still has Kim's ID. "Oh no. I haven't dealt with this yet. But first thing's first. I have to go inside and wait for this guy, then give him his ID so that it won't be such a burden. But wait, this one is my leverage over him. As long as he needs to come to school, he needs his ID. I think I will have fun today. "
