Return and Report

[Apollo] Apollo sits on the edge of the tree house, recalling the events from last yesterday. He hoped Teri got home okay, wherever her home was. Since that day, he decided to take a break from swimming for a while... He waits impatiently for Sophia. She never came back yesterday, or responded to any of his texts. She's never been away from home this long before. Especially by herself. Apollo was worried that she may have been attacked... or worse. She hadn't returned at all last night and she still wasn't back by the time he woke up this morning. If she didn't text him back or didn't return home by today, Apollo would have to go out looking for her. He held out hope for a while that she was just fine and would still be fine by the time she got back, but Apollo's worries began to rise. He was too nervous to eat and he wasn't sure how much longer he wanted to wait until he decided to go searching for Sophia. Luckily, he didn't have to wait much longer From out of the sky, a faint shadow appeared over the sun and Apollo looked up, trying not to blind himself from the brightness. The shadow got closer until color was able to be seen. Large wings, female figure, short hair. Oh thank god she's back. Apollo jumped down from the tree house platform and ran up to meet Sophia as he waved at her. Sophia tried to slow down enough so she would end up crashing into him, but ended up flying just above Apollo's head and crash landed on the ground behind him. Apollo laughed as Sophia picked herself up off the ground and they hugged each other. They pulled away after a moment as Sophia continued to laugh. "Are you okay? What happened to you? Why didn't you come home last night?" Apollo asked worriedly. "It's okay, I just ran into a little trouble. Kind of a long story." Sophia said. "What about you? Did something happen to you when you went out to swim?" "That's... also kind of a long story too." They returned home to have breakfast together and relax. Apollo asked Sophia again about what happened yesterday and why she didn't come home. Sophia was hesitant at first, not sure if she should or could give all the details. But as she began, she became more comfortable, and excited, to explain her side of the story. "They were twins?" Apollo asked excitedly. Sophia nodded with a mouthful of food. "Wha- how? Is it just only them?" "Yeah, they jumped me and thought I destroyed their flower gardens." Sophia couldn't explain her story very well, but Apollo was only relieved to know that she was okay. After she finished, Sophia asked about what happened to him. "She was a mermaid?!" Sophia said in surprise. "Yeah, pretty much. But when she came up on land, her tail turned into a pair of legs so she could walk on land." Apollo explained. "That's so cool!" Sophia wished she could've been there. Although both of them had doubts in their mind that the other was actually telling the truth, they were still excited to hear their sides of the story and relieved to know that they were safe. After they ate, Sophia went back upstairs and showered, while Apollo stayed downstairs and turned on the TV for some background noise. When Sophia came back, she wore the same blue shorts but with a light blue camisole instead. They decided to take it easy for the rest of the day and relax for a while. Almost instantly, everything seemed like it had returned to normal and they hardly spoke about anything for the rest of the day. But even as they sat back against the cushions, the both of them could hardly believe what they had just heard, wishing they could've been there to see everything for themselves. How crazy was it that there was a mermaid princess that lived in the depths of the lake? How crazy was it that there were grey-skinned twins that lived in a deep cave at the bottom of a large hole surrounded by a mutant strawberry field? Then again... how crazy is it that there are two best friends with wings and multicolored eyes with super powers who live amongst normal humans?
