Mr. Cole looked up from his table. A small smile tugged up his lips as he admired the figure that stood in front of him. “Hmm…she looks beautiful,” he thought, his eyes tracing her features before he spoke. “Mr. Cole here,” he said, his voice smooth and practiced. “You can address me as Mr. Cole. I am the owner of this successful restaurant,” he added with a confident gesture. Faith, standing nervously, mustered a small smile. “Alright,” she said, her voice almost a whisper. “Uhh,” he began, clearing his throat, “without wasting much of our time, I am sure Jessica has already explained some things to you…” he said, his smile turning slightly sheepish. The way he lingered his eyes on her was really suspicious and Faith immediately became uncomfortable. How he looked at her made her skin crawl, but she forced herself to remain composed. She guessed it was one of the few things Jessica had warned her about. “Yes… yes sir. She did” Faith responded, her voice a bit shaky. Mr. Cole’s expression tightened slightly. “I asked you to call me Mr. Cole,” he corrected, his tone firm. An awkward silence fell between them. Faith’s eyes darted nervously around the room, desperate for a way to escape the awkward situation. Finally, Mr. Cole broke the silence, his voice booming as he called out, “Marvey!” It didn’t take so long before Marvey appeared before them, her demeanor, calm and steady. “You called for me, Mr. Cole?” She asked. “Take her to change into some work clothes,” he instructed, his tone dismissive, as if Faith was nothing more than another cog in the machine. “Okay, gotten,” Marvey replied, turning to Faith with a polite smile. “Please, come with me.” Faith was led by Marvey through the back rooms and then finally to a small dressing room, where she handed Faith a small bag containing pieces of clothing before turning to leave. Faith was excited as she pulled out the items from the bag, her initial discomfort fading off. “I got the job!” She thought, a smile spreading across her face. She quickly changed into the clothes— a black mini skirt, a long white sleeve shirt that clung and revealed her curves. The outfit was completed with a pair of comfortable black boots and a small bow tie around her neck. But as soon as she saw herself in the mirror, the excitement faded. She felt so exposed and to her, she looked more like a slut than a waitress. She couldn’t help but fidget, tugging at the hem of the skirt and adjusting the tight shirt. Just as she was trying to compose herself, Marvey barged into the room, her expression concerned. “Are you okay?” She asked, noticing Faith’s discomfort. Faith forced a smile. “Yes, I…am,” she stammered, the words feeling foreign in her mouth. She felt so embarrassed and out of place. Marvey studied her for some moments before nodding. “Okay then, come with me.” She said, her voice soft, yet commanding. Together, they made their way back to Mr. Cole, who was already waiting for them. His eyes lit up when he saw Faith and a wide grin spread across his face. “Wow, this is beautiful!” He exclaimed, his voice filled with satisfaction. “Go ahead with Marvey, she will tell you where to start from.” He said and returned his focus back to his laptop. Faith tried to hide the unease that was gnawing within her. As she followed Marvey, that was when it dawned on her that they were both wearing the same outfit, Marvey’s skirt, even shorter. She was so tensed she didn’t even notice her outfit earlier. Faith’s thoughts raced as she glanced at her, wondering, “how does she feel comfortable in that?” But there was no time to dwell on it, as Marvey had already begun to assign her to serve the guests. “Now look,” she began, “you must go and serve that man seated over there.” She said, nodding her head toward a man seated at the corner of the restaurant. Mark, unaware, sipped his tea as he read the magazine. “You must be on your best behavior. His name is Mark and Mr. Cole really likes this one.” Marvey instructed. Faith nodded, her nerves already on edge. “Of course, Marvey,” she replied, forcing a small smile as she picked up the tray of food that had been prepared. She steadied herself, taking a deep breath before making her way toward him. Mark glanced up and noticed the beautiful figure approaching his table. His breath caught in his throat as her beauty struck him immediately. Faith reached his table, and with a smile, began to set the food down. As she did, her hand slipped slightly and the tray hit the tea cup, causing it to tip over. The tea spilled across the table, splashing onto Mark’s trousers. “Oh!” Mark exclaimed, jolting up from the chair as he quickly grabbed a napkin to wipe the stain. Faith’s heart sank. Her hands trembled as she watched the disaster unfold. “Oh no, I am so sorry!” She stammered, her voice tinged with panic. “What have I done?” From across the room, Mr. Cole sat, watching the scene unfold. As soon as the tea spilled, he sprang up from his chair, his face contorted with anger. He stormed over to Mark’s table. “What have you done?!” He yelled, his voice filled with fury. Faith stood frozen, her heart pounding in her chest. “I..I am so sorry, Mr. Cole,” she pleaded, her voice barely above a whisper. “Don’t you dare call my name!” He snapped. “Do you know whom you have spilled tea on?” Just then, Mark cut in. “Uh, Mr. Cole, it’s fine really. It was only a mistake.” He pleaded on her behalf, trying to defuse the situation as people began turning their heads towards them. But Mr. Cole was far from placated. “Oh no, Mark. This wasn’t a mistake.” He insisted, his eyes never leaving Faith. He turned sharply, his voice echoing through the room. “Marvey! Come over here!” he demanded. Marvey rushed over to the scene, her face filled with concern. “Offer another table to Mark,” he instructed, and turned back to Faith, “you, come with me!”
