Elaine didn't bother to find out who it was. However, she knew it was a man. The way his hands protectively wrapped around her and how no one dared throw eggs at her anymore, she could tell that she was in safe hands. But who was he?
“Walk.”
She heard his deep voice for the first time. She doesn't know why but she felt safe around him to obey and started walking with his guidance. She felt them walk away from the scene.
He suddenly stopped her and slowly removed the blanket from her face.
“You can open your eyes now.”
Slowly, oh so slowly, Elaine opened her eyes and they fell on his broad chest. He was broad and tall, that she noticed. And his cologne, goodness.
Her blood drained the moment her eyes fell on him and Immediately, she gave him a distance. Him?
“Mr Romano?”
He said nothing and just closed the distance between them before cleaning her body with the blanket and tossing it somewhere neither of them cared.
“Get in the car,” Elaine heard him order and that was when she realized that they were in the parking lot. Why was he here and telling her what to do? Did Jimmy ask him to come instead?
From her memory, she had met with him a few times and these few times, he never spared her a glance or even spoke to her. The first time was when she was brought home by Jim and from what she remembers, he and Jimmy weren't on good terms. Xavier Romano. He was the 30-year-old most sought-after bachelor and CEO of the RC. To top it all, he was her Jimmy’s uncle.
Weird right? Well, he and Jimmy were only five years apart and from what she heard, Jimmy’s mother had him at 18.
“Wh…what? Why?”
“Get in. We'll talk later. You stink.”
Hearing him say that, she sniffled herself and he was right. She stinks so bad that she feels like vomiting. Yuck!
She immediately did as he asked and got into his car watching as he turned around to get in and started driving. Where was he taking her to? Why wasn't she panicking? Not even she knows the answer to this question. All she knew was that she felt safe with him around.
Bringing out her phone from her bag, she scrolled through the news article and a video popped up.
Her eyes widened when she saw that it was a video of her sister, Ria sitting on a hospital bed and making a video in tears. Telling the world how she has been maltreated by her sister and boss and how she bullied her for months, making her feel worthless and trying to commit suicide. She told the world how her sister was jealous of her getting married soon. She was begging for justice and seeing this, Elaine couldn't help but switch off her phone and dumped it back in her bag.
Human beings are ungrateful. Never for once did she do these things that she was being accused of. Yes, she had raised her voice and told her off a few times, that shouldn't amount to her committing suicide, right? She only did that for her own good as her younger sister. Or was she that brutal? Did she really bully her?
Getting married? No one told her that she was getting married.
Finally, the car stopped and Elaine raised her head to see where they were. Her eyes widened. Why does this place look like a freaking palace? Everywhere screamed luxury.
Climbing out of the car and following him behind as they entered into the mansion, Elaine couldn't help but gasp. Yes, she had been to many luxurious houses before but this was on a whole different level. She thought people were joking when they called him a zillionaire but right now, she could feel that he might be even more than that.
Staring around the sitting room, she didn't realize that the man in front of her had already stopped walking and she ended up colliding with his back.
“Ouch.”
“Maybe if you had been a little bit more watchful, that wouldn't have happened to your company.”
“What do you mean?”
“Being over-occupied just like you were just now. Go upstairs to your left. You can freshen up there.”
“You brought me here without telling me why? Can I know the reason?”
“I can't talk to you in this state. You stink and I'm not a fan of eggs.”
Her face grew red in embarrassment and nodding, she did as he asked and went upstairs to freshen up. She too wasn't a fan of eggs.
Just as she entered the room he directed her to, she stopped. This man, who exactly was he? She could tell that this was his room from the way it was. His room is bigger than two of hers and just one gold from this house, one would be a millionaire.
Walking deeper into the room, Elaine traced the bathroom and got in. Just like the room, it was spacious and beautiful.
Sparkling silver.
After having her bath, she came out in his clothes that she had picked from his walk-in closet. If he could accommodate her, he could as well borrow her his clothes because well, she has no spare clothes to wear.
In his white shirt and black pants that she tied so tight so it wouldn't fall off, Elaine walked back to the sitting room where she saw him waiting for her.
“What are you wearing?”
She pinched her neck awkwardly.
“Hmm. I could not find any female clothing. I'm sorry I'm borrowing yours.”
She immediately walked to sit astride him as she felt his eyes bore holes into her body making her uncomfortable. The way he stared at her from up to down as if he wanted the clothes back.
“Eh.. can you just tell me why I'm here already?”
He sighed.
“To make a deal.”
