Taking My Used Things

“Di…Did Jimmy ask you to come save me?” Elaine asked and frowned when she heard him chuckle. “He's getting married.” “I know he's joking. I mean…. He is only angry with me and thinks the rumors are true. You are his Uncle, right? You can make him see things clearly.” “Grow up, little girl. Here.” He gave her his phone to look at the news article. Elaine scrolled through it and stopped when her eyes fell on Jimmy’s pre-wedding photos. They were right. He was getting married. Wasn't this their dream together? And now he was doing it with someone else. The promises that they made and their plans for the future. Do they mean nothing to him? “Ria?” Her heartbeat increased as she saw the face of the lady he was getting married to. Ria? They both have been cheating on her? She stood up. “Where are you going? To see him? You don't want more eggs on your body so sit down.” Her feet tapped loudly on the floor as she sat back down. “Th…that's Ria. My sister. They both have been deceiving me.” Before now, she felt sad that her dream with Jimmy was shattering and her years of devotion to him were in vain but right now, all she felt was anger and the urge to stab either of them. How dare they cheat her after everything. She has been nothing but a good girlfriend to him who supports him in his dreams and whatever he does and for Ria, she saw her as a best friend. Goodness, how did she not notice this? There were so many signs. Recently he stopped calling or texting her, he no longer cares. She had even caught them together one time and they managed to convince her that it was nothing and they were only speaking about her. How bad she let them play her. With red eyes that managed to control her tears, she looked at the man astride her. “What's the deal?” She saw his lips curve up in a smile. “Be mine.” “What?” He stood up from the couch and slowly walked to the couch she sat on and sat on the table in front of her. “We have the same enemy here, girl.” “How is Jimmy your enemy? You… you're his uncle.” “That boy keeps getting on my nerves. It's high time we put him in his place. Get married to me and everything will be settled. You get what you want and I get what I want. We get to teach your damn boyfriend a lesson.” “Ex.” “I don't care.” Elaine stared into space trying to register all that he said in her head. Marry him? Will marrying him solve all her problems? Considering who he was, she guessed so. Moreover, she was desperate. It was her company that she was talking about here. The one that she had suffered so hard for and if it meant marrying her ex’s Uncle for it, then so be it. “Fine then. I'm ready to do that for the sake of my company.” Moreover, Jimmy was getting married too. It's only right that she does the same. He chuckled. “Good girl. Then we have a deal.” “Elaine nodded.” ***** Walking into the hospital dressed in male clothing with a face cap and nose mask, Elaine stood in front of the room where Ria was being admitted. She only has one question to ask her and eventually, she will be fine. Slowly opening the door, she walked in. She was surprised to see the amount of people in the room. “Are you the delivery man my fiancé sent? Come in, we’re starving,” Ria said. She was sitting in an executive bed with her legs folded and in her hands were a mirror and a makeup brush which she used on her face. “Why are you standing? I said we’re starving.” Ria and the other persons in the room raised her head in confusion seeing that their delivery man was saying nothing and not even moving at all. Her words got buried in her throat as she saw the supposed delivery man take off his face cap and nose mask. “Wh…what the f**k. Who let you in here?” “Mom, Emily,” Elaine greeted. Emily scoffed at her. She was the oldest of the three sisters and seeing the black sheep of their family, she stood up and walked to Elaine. “What do you want now, Eliane? Do you want to finish her up now? How dare you show your face here after bullying your sister.” “I did nothing, sister. Really.” “So our little sister is lying? Just one time that you have to help this family. This is why I tried to convince Ria to stop being obsessed with making clothes like you. She would have been under me in our family’s business instead and won’t have to face this.” “I have to talk to Ria.” Emily laughed. “Don’t be so dreamy. You didn’t think we would let you talk to her, right?” “Move.” Eliane rushed to her mother who was sitting beside Ria on the bed and she immediately held her hand. “Mom, you have to believe in your dau…” Her words got buried in her heart as her mother pushed her hands away from her and turned. She felt her heart shattering. What did she even expect? They would never believe her.” “Ria,” Elaine called. Emily yelled. “Elaine!” “Sister Emily, let it be. Sister Elaine said that she didn’t do it, maybe she was only disciplining me and I took it seriously.” Ria rushed to the two sisters who were looking as if they would kill each other if no one Intervene. Her sweet and calm pitiful voice rang. Emily looked at her pitifully.” “That’s a lie. See how pitiful you look. She put you into this.” “I only want to talk, Ria.” “What do you want to talk about? I’m scared.” “You don’t have to. I promise I won’t do anything.” Ria looked at her mother and sister before nodding at them. “Are you sure you’ll be fine, Ria,” their mother asked. “I will, okay?” They finally agreed to leave the two sisters alone and made their way out of the room. The moment her sister and mother left, Ria wrapped her hands under her chest. “If you're here to make me commit suicide for a second time, then You're in the wrong place.” “I'm not here for any of that. I'm only here to ask you a question.” Sighing, Ria walked to stand right in front of her. Elaine wasn’t surprised at her change all of a sudden, it wasn’t new to her at all. “What question? Who would have thought the Almighty fashion designer of the year would fall this strongly? Being a bully in this country is not a flex at all.” “D..did you really try to commit suicide because of me?” Elaine started. “Just that?” “Was I abusive? When and how did I bully you? I mean, I've yelled at you and corrected you a couple of times but what I can't remember is me calling you weak and useless. Did I say any of that?” Her conscience right now was not in the right state and the only thing that she could do to put it back in place was to come here and get answers to her questions. That was the only reason she came here. She wanted to know if truly, her sister tried to commit suicide because of her. She wants to know if she was that bad and harsh that she could push someone to end their life. To go as far as trying to jump off a rooftop. “You look so pitiful right now, Elaine.” Elaine raised her voice this time. “Of course, I'd look pitiful. My company, my hard work, my years, I'm watching it all go to waste and you're saying this? Don't you have a heart of your own? I am Your sister. I worked so hard to be where I was. You have to tell me if I did all of that or not. If you tried to commit suicide because of me or not.” “No.” Silence followed. “No! That's what you want to hear right? Well, for your information, No. I didn't try to commit suicide because of you.” Elaine’s mouth fell open in shock. “Th…then why did you make those statements.” “That's a ridiculous question that you should already know the answers to. Why are you so dumb in these things? I didn't try to commit suicide because of you and I didn't even try to at all. My life is too precious for that. I faked all of that to get you out of my way. I did that to take your place in the industry, get it?” “My place? Do you think it's that easy to take someone’s hard work? Stop being a little child and grow up.” “Too bad I made it easy. If you don't know, I already took it.” “How can you do this to your sister, Ria.” “Sister?” She laughed. “My sister can’t have everything in the world and leave me behind. You have a great company, a great friend, a great boyfriend and you want me to remain under you? That is not going to happen. Watch me explore your career and… your man.” Elaine raised her hand to hit her on her cheek only to stop and drop it. “You want to hit me? Come on, do it. Do it and I'll show everyone that you hit me again a day before my wedding.” “You know what? You and him are meant for each other, trust me. You deserve each other. Cheaters and betrayers are a good match together. Good luck in taking my used things. As always.”
