Chapter 14
Gabriel
I am parked around the corner from the school when I see my beautiful Mary dropping little Mia off at school. She steps inside with Mia, and she looks so beautiful today and she’s such a good mom. They will be mine. I watch Mary walk back out to the car as I’m hiding around the corner of the school. I see Mary looking around and she rushes to the car after she sees me. Her bodyguard comes running so I take off back towards my car. s**t. I get in my car and take off and head back to my house.
I get inside and pack a bag and get my bag together for the next part of my plan. I head to my old stomping ground. I head to the basement and get the mattress ready as well as making sure everything else I need is in place. I spend the night there, before heading out the next morning. I wait until after she drops Mia off at school before showing up. I hide out, watching the two security guards patrol the grounds. I learn their pattern. I sneak around and hide, watching all of the kids coming out for recess. I watch for Mia.
Once I see Mia’s class come out, I watch her. She is running around, playing and she looks so happy. She comes over toward the gate, where I am hiding, and she sees me. “Hey Mia. Remember me? From the art store?” I ask and she nods her head yes. “Mommy sent me to get you. She said you could come color with me, but we have to hurry. Come on.” I say gently. “Where is Mommy?” she asks. “She’s at my house waiting on us but we have to go.” I tell her and open the gate just enough for her to slip out. She takes my hand and I pick her up and take off running to the car.
I put her in the car and buckle her in without a car seat. “I need my seat.” She tells me. “I know sweet Mia, but Mommy has it in her car and I forgot to grab it, but we’ll be to mommy soon.” I tell her and she looks out the window and watches the trees go by. I did it. I got Mia. Now to get Mary and my family will be together.
I pull up to the house and get Mia out and rush inside. I take her to the basement and lock the door from the inside. “Where’s Mommy?” she asks. “She had to run to the store to get us some food. She’ll be here soon. Why don’t you lay down and rest and she’ll be here when you wake up.” I tell her. “I don’t wanna rest.” She tells me. “I want my mommy.” She tells me. “She’ll be here soon.” I tell her again. “I want my daddy.” She says and starts to cry. “I’m your daddy now.” I tell her. “No. I want Daddy.” She starts to sob, and I can’t get her to stop crying. “SHUT UP!” I yell and she stops crying but is just whimpering. s**t. “Mia, honey, I didn’t mean to yell but you have to stop crying. I’m your daddy now and we’ll see mommy soon.” I tell her and she scrambles back against the wall and pulls the blanket over her. It’s not long before I start getting paranoid and know I can’t keep Mia here while I go after Mary.
“Come on Mia. Let’s go see Mommy.” I tell her and she backs away from me again. I reach for her and grab her wrist before pulling her to me. I pick her up and she starts screaming again. I make her look at me and say, “Stop screaming or you won’t see mommy again.” She immediately stops. I take her out to the car and buckle her in and she’s sniffling and trying not to cry. I drive and start thinking of where to go then I remember the apartment I inherited. I head that way and when we get to the parking lot, I look at Mia and say “We’re going inside. Don’t make a sound or I’ll make sure you never see mommy again.” I tell her and she doesn’t make a sound.
I get her out and take her into the apartment. I lock the door behind us and start looking around and I see an old dog kennel in the guest room. I take Mia in there and say “Get in.” She does as I say, and I tell her “I have to get our things out of the car. I will hear if you make a sound. Be quiet.” I tell her and she nods. I head out to the car and grab both bags and head back into the apartment. I look around and get things out and open the kennel. I hand Mia a stuffed animal and lay a sleeping bag and a pillow in the kennel for her. I move to the kitchen table and start working on my plan to get Mary. The more I think about her, the more I start to form a plan.
I move to the bedroom and start getting things ready. I put new sheets on the bed. Fluff the pillows. I take things out of the duffle bags I brought and put the picture of us together with our baby, Mia, on the nightstand. I change my clothes, open my notebook, and look at my notes of Mary’s schedule. She will be at the mission now, but she will be picking Mia up from school in an hour and she will see Mia isn’t there. But that’s okay. I have Mary’s number. I took her number from the information in Albert’s office. I’ll call her and tell her where we are and tell her to come alone. If she thinks I’ll hurt the kid, she’ll come alone.
I head to the kitchen and see that there’s not a lot to eat but I can give the kid Goldfish to eat. I take the bag and walk into the extra bedroom, where the cage is. I open the door and see Mia curled up in a corner of the cage, silently crying. I open the door and toss the bag inside. “There’s something to eat.” I say as I close the cage door and lock it. “Come on kid. You gotta eat.” I tell her. “I want my mommy.” She tells me again. “And mommy will be here soon. I just have to find the right time to go get her.” I tell her and she curls further into herself.
I move back to the kitchen and pull the laptop out of the bag I brought in and power it up. Time to start getting my plan in motion. Pulling up Google, I start looking at things I’m going to need to take Mary. I know her schedule, so I know where she’s going to be, and I know how many people are protecting her. I imagine her dumb ass husband would put more people on her, so I need to account for that. I close the laptop and head to the master bedroom. I’ve been planning for this. I look at the items on the bed. Rope. Duct tape. Cloth. Chloroform. Perfect. I have everything I need. Now just to find the right time to take her.
I sit on the bed and look at my notebook. I see that she normally goes to the mission, but I don’t think I’ll be able to take her from there. She won’t be taking Mia to school so I can’t take her from there. I will just have to take her from the mission. I can figure it out. With a smile on my face, I take the items on the bed and place them in the small bag I have in the closet and lay down with a smile on my face and drift off to sleep thinking about all the things I’m going to do to Mary when I finally have her. And have her I will.
The next morning, I get up and relieve myself before heading to the kitchen to make coffee. While its brewing, I walk to the spare bedroom, where Mia is and look inside and she’s laying there, sleeping still. I move back to the kitchen and get my coffee before moving the bag to the car and heading back to the apartment. I move to the master bedroom and ensure that the chains I installed into the walk-in closet were secured and ready. I move a sleeping bag and pillow into the closet for my woman.
I walk back into the hallway and hear Mia crying. I walk into her room, and she stops crying when she sees me. “Good morning Sweet Mia. How did you sleep?” I ask and she doesn’t answer me. She sits up and pulls her knees up to her chest and hides her face. “Daddy is going to pick up mommy, so I need you to be good and be quiet for me while I’m gone. If you cry or scream, you won’t see mommy again so make sure you’re very quiet.” I tell her and she nods her head that she understands. I stand to my feet and head out to the living room and put on my shoes. I grab my keys and I’m out the door.
I head out the door and to the mission. I park just around the corner and sneak around the edge of the building. I watch one of the security guards lead Mary to the door and I can see she’s upset. I sneak around the building, trying to find a way in where I won’t be detected until I can get to Mary. I back against the building when I see a couple of security guards walking out a back door. I watch and see that they walk out and then press a finger to the sensor beside the door to, I assume, lock it. As they start to patrol, I slip over to the door and try to pull it opened, to see it is locked. s**t. I need to get to Mary. I need to get my woman.
I sneak around the next corner of the building when I hear “Stop!” Someone yells but I start to run. I make it to the alley out back before one of them tackles me. “Let go!” I yell before I feel handcuffs being slapped on my wrists. I’m yanked up off the ground and dragged to the back of the building before I hear one of them on the phone. “Need you around back…caught someone sneaking around…matches the picture.” He says. Next thing I know, the door opens and a man walks out. As soon as he sees me, he says “You know where to take him. I’ll get the boss there.” Before walking away, bringing his phone to his ear.
The two men take me to a sedan and toss me in the trunk, still handcuffed. I hear the car doors slam before the engine starts and we take off. I don’t know how long we’ve been on the road before we make a sharp turn and are off the main road. The ride has gone from the smooth ride of the main road to bumpy, which tells me that we’re going down a dirt road or a long driveway. Wherever they are taking me, I need to stay alert and try to get out of this and back to my plan. Nothing will stop me from getting to Mary. She’s mine.
We come to a stop, and I hear the engine turn off. I hear both doors slam before the trunk is opened and they drag me out. Tossing me on the ground before kicking me in the stomach, causing me to gasp for breath. They grab my arms and drag me inside what looks like an abandoned warehouse. Pulling me inside, they drag me over to a hook hanging from the ceiling and drape my cuffed hands over the hook, hanging me there. “You won’t stop me.” I rasp. They don’t say anything. “I will get her.” I tell them. Still nothing. I hang there and smirk knowing they don’t know where my secret weapon is.
I decide to buy myself some time while I figure a way out of this. My toes barely touch the floor. I’m hanging just low enough that my toes brush the floor so getting enough leverage to boost myself up won’t work. I’ll have to figure out how to get these cuffs over the hook. One of them must see me trying to work out the logistics. “Don’t even think about it. Look.” The man says. I look up and see that the chain on the cuffs was looped under the latch of the hook. s**t. “You’re not going anywhere.” He tells me. “I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Plus, nothing can happen to me.” I say. “And why’s that?” he asks. “Because I know something no one else knows and if you kill me, then no one will find what they’re looking for.” I say, smirking before the other man walks up and puts duct tape over my mouth.
I look around the room in search of an escape route for when I can break loose. I find a door at the back that looks like it might go to an office. That might buy me a minute if I can make it to that room. Surely there’s a window in there to slip out of. I look up at my hands and contemplate dislocating my thumbs to get out of these cuffs.
“Look at this fool. Trying to figure out a way out.” One of the men says. “Let’s sit back and see how far he gets.” The other one says. They lean back against the desk sitting there and just watch me. I have no choice but to just hang here and come up with another plan. If I can’t physically get myself out of this maybe I can talk my way out of it once they take the tape off of my mouth. Now to work out how to talk my way out.
I’m there for what seems like hours before I see four men walk in. They all look pissed but one looks like he’s barely hanging onto his anger. Good. I can work with that. “Take off the tape.” I hear the one barely hanging on say. He walks up and he’s barely holding himself together. “Where is she?” he asks. “Where’s who?” I ask, pretending I don’t know what he’s talking about. “My daughter.” He seethes. “I don’t know your daughter.” I tell him and he starts to lunge at me two of the other men hold him back. Another man steps forward and says “Where’s Mia?” and I just shrug my shoulders feigning ignorance. “Stop the s**t. You took Mia. We know you took her.” Another man says. “Doesn’t matter where the kid is. Once I have Mary, we’ll live happily ever after. We will have our family and she won’t think about you again.” I tell him. “That what you think? You think my wife will just forget about me and be with you?” Mary’s husband asks. “I saw the way she would look at me when she’d come into the art store. She wants me. And you left her and the kid all alone. I won’t make that mistake.” I tell him, smirking. “I’ll f*****g kill you.” He seethes. “No you won’t. Because if you do, you won’t figure out where the kid is and since she’s all alone, no one to take care of her, how long do you think she’ll last? Not long. Not being able to get food or water. Pissing herself. All alone. Kid will be dead before you find the little brat.” I tell them and he lunges for me again before the same two men grab him again, holding him back.
I am still hanging from the hook but I’m not giving up. He wants the kid. I don’t but I know Mary will want her but we can have our own kids. Mia isn’t even really her kid. Not his either. I don’t give a f**k about the kid. I just want Mary but this fucker wants the kid. Maybe I can make a trade. Mary for the kid. I think about it for a few minutes and start smiling.
“What the f**k are you smiling about you stupid fucker?” Mary’s husband asks. “I want to make a deal.” I tell them. “No. You’re going to tell me where my daughter is.” The husband says. “No. We’re going to make a deal or you won’t ever see the kid again. I want to make a deal.” I say again. “What do you want?” one of the other men asks and Mary’s husband looks at him like he’s stupid. I look at him and smirk before saying “Mary.”
