Sarah's POV
The smell of hospitals is the smell I hate so much, phenol based cleaners all over the place.
I can't wait for my test results to be out so I could leave.
I'm sure the marks of the multiple holes on the beam chair in the waiting area were already imprinted on my b*tt.
Nurses, doctors and people pacing here and there.
And then suddenly, a loud bang as the nurses swung the door open and the stretcher burst through.
Wheels clattering against the ceramic tiles alongside hurried footsteps. The man laying on the stretcher looked like he was in so much pain and could barely maintain his conscious state at the moment.
he could hardly breathe even though he was wearing an oxygen mask. I couldn't even imagine what could be going through his mind at that moment.
He was covered in blood. Like water from a broken pipe-his blood dropped over the floor like a trace behind him.
I have never seen so much blood in my life
"GSW to the abdomen," the nurse barked, her eyes fixed on the doctor who just appeared at the mid end of the hallway.
"He's lost a lot of blood." another nurse from the other side said, apply pressure on the gunshot wound. Her gloves were covered in red thick blood.
The doctor nodded. "OR now!!"
And just like that they disappeared, leaving a trail of blood and a sharp smell of iron behind.
This brought me back to why I hate being in hospitals.
With a lot going on recently in my life, I couldn't help but think about it.
I didn’t just loose my job i also lost my man
Tears gathered at the side of my eyes as I walked through memory lane, I quickly got hold of myself. A rumor was all it took to break up everything we had, all the moments we shared.
All the promises and the sweet words he said to me on his bed. He threw everything out the window because of a rumor that got to him?
"Ms Sarah..." I heard faintly, followed by a warm soft hand resting on my shoulder. That brought me back to reality. I saw the nurse standing there.
She wore a pale blue scrub set, it was slightly wrinkled and I could tell it was from the rush. A stethoscope hanging loosely around her neck.
She looked tired but in all she still put on a kind gesture.
I couldn't tell how long she had been there. It was just like someone turned down the volume of the world.
"Your test results are out, The doctor will see you now ma."
I nodded, standing up to head over to the doctors office, there was this unusual feeling, like I was waking up from a bad dream.
I caught sight of the cleaner who was already doing her job. Pushing the mop over the ceramic tile in a circular motion, slowly wiping off what's left of the man's pain.
Hospitals tiles always have these features: non slip, anti bacterial surface, easy to clean, durable for heavy foot traffic.
She could only erase those blood trails from the tiles but not from my memory. I pushed myself to concentrate on what the test results would be like.
I sat down with the doctor who was already reviewing my test results.
"I have good news for you. Ms Sarah, you're pregnant."
This was supposed to be good news, but this time it hit me hard like a truck.
My sight blurred with hot tears.
Pregnant? How? Why now?
The doctor said it was good news, but to me it was more like bad news, the worst thing that could ever happen to me.
First I lost my job, and now this. So it's game over then for my career.
I sat there not knowing if I should join the doctor in smiling or I should just burst into tears.
"Doctor, are you sure that's my test result?" I asked. There were a lot of files on the doctor's desk and that made me second guess the result.
"Yes,” the doctor replied. “Ms Sarah, or aren't you happy about the news?" the doctor asked, still maintaining the smile on his face.
"Yes, I am happy but I just wanted to make sure you don't have the wrong result in your hand." I replied, forcing a short smile on my face.
How do I break this news to Cole? The CEO of Banks Enterprises is now going to be a father. Cole has never wanted anything to do with relationships not to talk of having a child.
I’m already on the bad side of Cole, I and my child would go through hell right here on earth with him.
I left the hospital with one place in mind, the only place I could go right now was a place I would never be judged. There is only one person in my life that can actually be there for me right now.
I appeared at her front door not knowing how I was able to drive down there, how many lights and stop signs I ran through.
The front door was slightly open, this is not the first time she'd been so careless. I didn't even call her before coming, my brain was unable to process anything at the moment.
I never called her name to see if she was at home, I never tried calling her either. I dragged myself to the kitchen to get some water. I held the cup of water in my hands when I heard a sound, Bedframe and mourn.
My eyes rolled and i knew she was not just at home, a man was in the house with her too. “Non of my business.” I said to myself.
Then came a grunts, a familiar one followed by a voice. It was faint but not mistaken, more like a wave, coming and going.
I approach the staircase, my grip firm on the stairs railings, using it for support as I ascend. The sound of bedframe and moans grew as I ascended.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I got to the bedroom. Cole and my sister, Lily, having s*x.
The only person I trust with my life. The same girl I took care of when our mother died, the same girl that stole my clothes and my makeup, the same girl I have defended countless times.
So many women he could get by just snapping his fingers, yet he chose my sister.
He thrust into her hard like he's digging up for gold.
“Give it to me daddy." Lily whispers to the air as she spreads her legs wider with his grip firmly on it like a support.
“f**k” he cursed. “This p*ssy feels so good.” He added. His face filled with pleasure as he increased the pace, almost ripping the bedframe apart.
Sweat dripping down from his perfectly shaped V on his lower body. Cole dug his finger into her hair, pulling it back.
Lily ached her back as he put his lips on her hard n*pple. The other hand exploring her body and landing back on her other hard n*pple, pulling and rolling it between his fingers.
“I’m gonna c*m,” Lily said, her voice unstable, her eyes rolling to the back of her head as she locked her legs behind his back.
They left the door widely open like they wanted the world to walk in on them. I can't believe I left the hospital to escape trauma just to bump into another.
It was just like adding salt to an open injury
I screamed silently inside me, but it never reached my lips, like it got stuck in my throat. The glass cup dropped and shattered immediately all over the floor.
That disrupted the whole atmosphere and brought their attention to me standing right at the door.
They were so focused on making each c*m that they didn’t even notice that I've been standing there for a while now.
Cole looked right at me, his m*nhood still erect like a stick. There was no sign of panic or guilt in his eyes. His gaze was cold without a single trace of guilt.
Lily instead of covering herself up, sat up on the bed naked with her messy hair. “Guess the cat's out now."
I froze, like a bucket of cold water had been thrown on me.
“Why are you here?” his voice came through to me, sharp and angry, like i wasn’t welcomed in my sister’s house.
“You suspended me from the office, not from my sister’s house, Cole.” I shot back.
“How long has this been going on?” I asked, my voice fluctuating as I tried to hold back the tears.
Lily slipped into her baggy top which she picked from the floor, “since you want to turn this to a question and answer session,” Lily said as she paced towards me, her n****e pointing out through the fabric.
“How long have you been working for Grant holding? Huh?”
“And how much? How much did they pay you for the information?” Cole added, demanding an immediate response.
I blinked momentarily, caught off guard.
These words came out of the mouth of Lily, my sister. Her mouth was excessively sharp for a person I just caught having s*x with my man.
No way are they trying to bring this back to me like I didn't just catch them together?
I forced myself to speak, but tears overcame my words. The more I pushed it the more tears kept flowing down.
I left the apartment not sure of where else to run to. I have no friends, no colleagues, no neighbors to run to. The only person I have in the whole world had just betrayed me.
