Lily’s POV
I sat in my plush, dimly lit office in my house, surrounded by the feeling of my newly acquired wealth and power.
My long blonde hair cascading down my back like a golden waterfall. My piercing blue eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint as I watched the three men walk into the office. I leaned back in my leather chair, steeping my fingers together as I gazed at the three men standing before me.
They were trusted enforcers assigned to me by their boss, men who would stop at nothing to carry out my orders.
“Listen carefully,” I said, my voice low and husky.
“I want you to pay a visit to my sister, Sarah. You all know my sister, the wannabe chick that betrayed Cole Banks and got her face all over the news and internet.”
The men nodded, their faces expressionless.
“I want you to scare her,” I continued.
“Make her understand that she’s not welcome in this city anymore. Tell her to leave and never come back. She came uninvited to my house last night and interrupted something special. I don't want to see her around, or accidentally bump into her in this city.”
One of the men, a burly individual with a thick beard and a beanie over his bald head, spoke up. “What if she doesn’t listen, boss?”
my smile was cold and calculating. “Then you make her listen. But don't hurt her…...yet. I want her to be able to walk away from this, to think she’s gotten off easy. But mark my words, she won’t be so lucky next time.”
Just as I was about to dismiss the men, the door to my office burst open and a man walked in. He was tall, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes which he stared hard at me.
“What’s going on here?” He demands, his voice low and menacing.
My smile never wavered. “Just taking care of a little business, Cole. Nothing for you to worry about.”
But Cole’s eyes had already landed on the three men standing before Lily and he knew exactly what was going on. He took a step toward, his fists clenched at his sides.
“You’re not going to hurt her, Lily.” He growled. “I won’t let you.”
My laughter echoed in the office. “Oh Cole. What a nice man you are. Why are you being so protective about her?”
I crossed my arms. “Aren’t you the one who sent her away and told me you guys were finally done? I’ll crush her, for you and for myself, of course and there’s nothing you can do to stop me.”
Cole’s face twisted with anger. “But she’s your sister. Don't you have any human decency?“
I interrupted him. “Did you, when you proposed that you loved me better than her on the bed we both shared last night?”
"You have no right to interfere, Cole," I spat. "Sarah and I have history, and this is between us."
Cole's expression turned cold, his voice dripping with disdain. "I have every right to interfere, Lily. And I'll do whatever it takes to protect Sarah from you. You're not going to hurt her again. And yes, she found out about us already."
Cole continued, jaw clenched, his voice laced with disbelief as he continued. “You already got her fired from the company, her face is all over the news. Isn’t that enough?”
My eyes narrowed, my face pale with rage. "You're just doing this because of your guilt, Cole. I did nothing wrong providing you evidence that Sarah was a double agent."
I sneered. "You're still feeling guilty about what happened between you and Sarah. But let me tell you, Cole, you have no reason to feel guilty. You and Sarah were never a thing. You were just using her for your own pleasure."
Cole's face twisted with anger, but he kept his cool, his voice firm. "That may be true, Lily, but it doesn't give you the right to hurt her. And I'm not going to let you do it."
I gasped, dramatically placing a hand on my chest. “Or what? What are you going to do huh?”
As she said this, she walked closer and whispered to his face.
“Don’t you dare act so righteous, Cole Banks. You started all this. Don’t you dare p*ssy out.”
“I’m in love with Sarah, Lily.” Cole confessed. “i’m in love with Sarah, not you.”
I crackled. “Even better.”
…………………
Sarah’s POV
My eyes scanned the dimly lit alleyway, my heels clicking against the wet pavement as I quickened my pace. I had just left the diner where I went for a meal.
Actually, I was so absentminded and couldn't even finish my meal, I just wanted to leave the diner.
As I turned a corner, I noticed a black van parked by the curb, the engine pouring softly. I ignored and was about to go my way when suddenly, the side door slid open, and a group of men in black suits and ski masks emerged, surrounding me.
My heart racing, I tried to push through the men, but they were too strong. They grabbed my arms and legs, lifting me off the ground. I kicked and struggled, but they held me firm, their grip like a vice.
One of the men searched through my bag, got my phone out and threw it on the floor followed by his boot landing on it twice.
I was scared. Who are these people? What would happen to me now? My baby?
They got me into the van and drove off.
One of them with a short scar on his right hand produced a cloth, which he pressed over my mouth and another covering my face with my hands tied. My world went dark.
After a long drive, the van stopped. Two of the men dragged me out of the van down to the floor, then took off the blindfold.
I found herself lying on a cold, dusty floor. I sat up, rubbing her sore head, and looked around.
I was in an old abandoned warehouse where the only lighting coming was from a few grimy windows high above. The men who had abducted me stood in a semicircle around me, their faces still hidden behind masks.
One of them stepped forward, his voice low and menacing.
“You’ve been warned, Sarah Willams. Stay away from the city…..”
“Who sent you?” I demanded. Cutting him off
“Go somewhere else. If you come back, there will be consequences and trust me, you don’t have any idea what will happen to you.”
My eyes widened as the men turned to leave.
“Where am I? I don’t have my phone, how do I get out of here?”
“Figure it out.” one of the men said.
Where was I supposed to go now? Out of the city? Leaving everything I worked so hard for behind? “Who sent you?” I demanded once more, but they just ignored me and walked away, disappearing into the darkness.
I curled up on the floor, wrapping my arms around my knees and let the tears flow.
Who sent them? Cole? Lily? Who would hate me this much?
