Chapter 6: The Discovery

Ivy's world was turned upside down when she discovered Leo's true identity. She felt like she had been punched in the guy, her breath couldn't knocked out of her. She couldn't believe that the man she loved, the man she thought she knew, was actually the CEO of her ex-husband's company.

She say in stunned silence, her mind racing with questions and doubts. How could he not tell her? Why did he keep it a secret? Was everything between them a lie?

As she say there, trying to process her emotions, Ivy's thought turned to her past. She thought about the a***e she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband, the way he had controlled and manipulated her. And now, she had fallen for the CEO of his company.

Ivy felt like she was living in a nightmare, like she was trapped in a never-ending cycle of pain and betrayal. She didn't know how to escape, didn't know how to make sense of it all.

As she sat there, trying to gather her thoughts, Ivy's phone rang. It was Leo. She didn't answer. She couldn't talk to him right now, couldn't face him. She needed time to think, time to process.

Ivy spent the rest of the day in a daze, her mind consumed by thoughts of Leo and his deception. She couldn't believe she had been so blind, so stupid. She had thought she was falling in love, but now she wasn't so sure.

As the sun began to set, Ivy knew she had to talk to Leo. She couldn't avoid him forever. She took a deep breath and picked up the phone, her heart heavy with emotions.

“Hey,” Leo said, his voice warm and gentle. “I've been trying to reach you all day. Is everything okay?”

Ivy felt a surge of anger at his words. How could he ask if everything was okay? Did he not know what she had discovered?

“No, everything is not okay,” Ivy said, her voice shaking with emotions. “I know who you are. I know you're the CEO of Ryan's company.”

There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, Ivy wondered if Leo was still there.

“I can explain,” Leo said finally, his voice cautious.

Ivy laughed, a bitter sound. “I'd like to hear it,” she said. “Meet me at my place in a hour.”

“I'll be there,” Leo said.

Ivy hung up the phone, her heart heavy with emotions. She didn't know what the future held, didn't know if she could ever trust Leo again. But she knew she had to hear him out, had to know why he kept his true identity a secret.

As she waited for Leo to arrive, Ivy's mind was a jumble of emotions. She was angry, hurt, and confused. She didn't know what to do, didn't know what to say. All she knew was that she had to protect herself, had to make sure she didn't get hurt again.

When Leo arrived, Ivy let him in, her heart pounding in her chest. She looked at him, really looked at him, and saw the man she thought she knew. But did she really know him at all?

“Explain,” Ivy said, her voice firm.

Leo took a deep breath and began to talk, telling Ivy everything. He told her about his history with Ryan, about how he had taken over the company and was working to change its toxic culture. He told her about his feelings for her, about how he had fallen in love with her.

As Ivy listened, she felt her emotions swirl. She didn't know what to believe, didn't know what to feel. All she knew was that she had to make a decision, had to decide whether to trust Leo or walk away.
