Chapter 9: The Betrayal

500 Words
Ivy's investigation led her to a shocking discovery – Leo had known about her past all along and had been keeping it from her. She felt betrayed, wondering if his love was genuine or just a plot to control her. Ivy's mind was reeling as she tried to process this new information. She thought about all the times she had opened up to Leo, sharing her fears and vulnerabilities with him. And all along, he had known about her past. She felt like she had been living in a dream, a dream that suddenly turned into a nightmare. Ivy's heart was heavy with emotion as she stood outside Leo's office. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the confrontation ahead. She knew that she needed to confront Leo, to demand answers. As she entered the office, Leo looked up from his desk. "Ivy, what's wrong?" he asked, concern etched on his face. But Ivy wasn't having it. She was beyond consolation. "How could you keep this from me?" she demanded, her voice shaking with emotion. Leo's expression changed, and he looked away, guilt written all over his face. "Ivy, I can explain," he said. But Ivy wasn't interested in explanations. She was interested in answers. "You knew about my past," she accused. "You knew about Ryan, and you didn't tell me." Leo sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I was trying to protect you," he said. "I didn't want you to feel like you were reliving your past." Ivy laughed, a bitter sound. "You didn't want me to feel like I was reliving my past?" she repeated. "You had no right to play with my emotions like this." Leo looked at her, his eyes filled with regret. "I know I made a mistake," he said. "I know I hurt you, and I'm sorry." But Ivy wasn't sure if she could forgive him. She felt like she had been living a lie, like everything she thought she knew about Leo and their relationship was a fabrication. "You had no right to keep this from me," Ivy said, her voice cold. "You had no right to manipulate me like this." Leo took a step forward, his eyes pleading. "I wasn't trying to manipulate you," he said. "I was trying to protect you." But Ivy wasn't having it. She held up her hand, stopping him. "Don't," she said. "Just don't. I need some time to think, to process this." Leo nodded, understanding. "I understand," he said. "Take all the time you need. But please, Ivy, don't shut me out. Let me explain, let me make things right." Ivy looked at him, her heart heavy with emotion. She didn't know if she could ever trust him again. But she knew that she needed to try, for both their sakes. "I'll talk to you later," she said, turning to leave. But as she walked out of the office, Ivy couldn't shake off the feeling that their relationship would never be the same again.
