“I don’t want you to go.” He brushed her cheek with his thumb. “Since you’re going through things, let me rescue you.” He set his plate down and stood. “I’ll take your mind off things.”
“Oh, Lord.” She grinned into her hand. “What are you up to?”
“Some music.” He went to the entertainment system, looked through the shelf of CDs, and held up Mary J. Blige’s My Life.
“Aw, man.” She pointed to him, tingling all over. “Going back to the classics, huh?”
“You know how I do it.” He slipped the CD into the stereo and a few seconds later “Can’t Live without You” played.
“Mm.” Georgia swayed with her eyes closed. “No one does it like Mary. Her music is timeless.”
