Shocked, I burst into the room, asking, "You have an heir already?" Both Alpha Darius and his father turned to face me in surprise.
Alpha Darius yelled, "What are you doing here?! How dare you disrespect me?!"
Gulping hard, feeling hurt and betrayed, I turned to his father, bowing my head in respect.
Before I could speak, he berated me, "You have no respect for me nor my son! You infertile woman!!!" His words shattered me. He continued, "You are the worst mistake my son ever made. Three years, and no single child to continue the lineage!"
I turned to Darius, but he remained silent. He didn't utter a single word to protect me from his father's harsh words. Tears streaming down my face, I ran out of the room back to my own, where I cried my eyes out.
Tears streamed down my face as I cried in my room, feeling life's cruelty on me. "Not only am I infertile, but now my Alpha Darius is expecting a child from another woman," I cried out.
Frustrated, I scattered the pillows, throwing them to the floor. A knock on the door interrupted my loneliness. In a fit of anger, I yelled, "Get out!"
Then I heard Sabrina's voice, "Isolde!! It's me, Sabrina."
Rushing to the door, I opened it and immediately sought solace in her arms, tears staining my cheeks.
Sabrina inquired, "Are you alright? What happened? I brought the right portion of herbs."
Through my tears, I confessed, "There's no need anymore. Alpha Darius is expecting a child from someone else."
Sabrina just stood still looking at me and from her reaction, I could tell she wasn't even surprised, but I didn't care. All I knew was that another woman would be giving my alpha an heir, an heir to the pack. An heir I desperately tried to give him but couldn't, and to top it all, he betrayed me, he cheated on me.
Instead of Sabrina to console me, all she was focused on was her concoctions that never worked.
She cleared her throat and awkwardly urged me, "You need to take the herbs now, take it all in one gulp."
Angrily, I retorted, "Are you serious right now? Is that all you care about? Just your concoctions that I've been taking for years with no results?"
Sabrina yelled back, "I have been doing everything in my power for you! Even used my powers, endangering myself, to try to make you conceive, but it still yielded no fruits, maybe because you're infertile like they all say."
Stunned, I stammered, "Sabrina? You... You..."
Before I could finish, she interrupted, "Someone has to tell you the truth! How come my herbs have cured you but couldn't help you conceive if you're not barren, Isolde."
Filled with rage and anger, I slapped her instantly, and she fell straight to the floor. I looked at my palms, disbelief filled me. I never thought I had such strength within me.
As Sabrina remained on the floor, Darius walked in at the wrong moment. With tears in my eyes, I expected him to come to me, apologize, or explain what I heard in his father's chambers.
Instead, my beloved Alpha rushed towards Sabrina on the floor. He looked at me and yelled, "What the hell is wrong with you, Isolde! You didn't even wait for me to explain before taking drastic actions."
Confused and hurt, his words stung and I had no idea what he was talking about. In my mind, he was a cheater, someone who betrayed our love.
Sabrina, still on the floor, started crying out of nowhere, adding to the confusion.
Darius bent down to help her up, turning to me angrily, "Even if you're angry at her, you should hear me first, Isolde!"
Sabrina, tearful, claimed, "I only came here to explain, Alpha Darius, but she didn't even give me a chance."
Seeing a side of Sabrina I had never witnessed before, I sensed pretense in her actions. I cried out, "You attacked me first verbally, Sabrina! What is this drama you're suddenly putting up?"
Sabrina continued crying, claiming innocence, "I didn't touch you, and you pushed me. You've always been jealous of me, Isolde."
Feeling like I was in a dream, I chuckled and said, "Jealous? Jealous of you?"
Darius intervened, yelling, "That's enough!" He turned to me, stating, "Since you couldn't wait for me to address the issue, I'll have to address it publicly."
Tearfully, I protested, "Address what publicly? Humiliate me more? Huh?!"
He instructed coldly, "Come outside now. I'll address this."
Before my eyes, he held Sabrina in a compromising way by her waist, helping her out of the room. The confusion deepened, leaving me uncertain about what was truly happening.
Left alone in the room, I sniffed, still confused, as they both went outside. I stepped out too, waiting curiously for the explanation or announcement that Alpha Darius had in store for everyone.
The pack gathered outside, and it seemed like he had orchestrated this moment before even entering the room.
Alpha Darius stood before the pack, holding Sabrina's hands, while I stood behind them, feeling like an outcast. My place should have been right beside him, but I lacked the strength to fight for it.
My heart was bleeding, my world crumbling, and I had no understanding of Sabrina's sudden role change.
As Alpha Darius cleared his throat, he announced, "I am expecting an heir."
Excitement filled the air, and everyone seemed thrilled, but I couldn't share in their joy. Someone noticed me from the corner where I stood and yelled, "Luna Isolde! Congrats, we all knew it was going to happen sooner."
Overwhelmed, I burst into tears. They had it all wrong; I wasn't the one carrying the pack's heir, and I had no idea who it was.
Then, right before me, Alpha Darius clarified, "No... I'm expecting an heir from Sabrina."
The words hit me like a tidal wave, and the world around me seemed to crumble even further.
